Botanical Name: Lavandula stoechas

Main Constituents:
Linalool: 42%
Linalyl acetate: 20%
Camphor: 9.23%

Plant Part: Flowers

Origin: Spain

Processing Method: Steam Distillation

Description / Color / Consistency: A thin, clear, colourless to pale yellow liquid.

Aromatics Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A top note of strong aroma, Lavender Spanish has a floral scent that is somewhat more camphoraceous than Lavender 40/42, and smells like fresh lavender.

Blends With: Bay, Bergamot, Chamomile, Citronella, Clary Sage, Geranium, Jasmine, Lemon, Mandarin, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Pine, Thyme, Rosemary, Rosewood and Ylang-ylang.

Product Abstract: The Lavender plant is a woody evergreen shrub, up to 1 meter tall, with pale green, narrow linear leaves and violet blue flowers. The entire plant is covered with oil glands, which are in the star shaped hairs that cover the plant. Lavender has been used since ancient times, and the Romans added lavender to their bath water, hence the name from the Latin lavare, 'to wash'. Differences in soil, altitude and temperature, precipitation and seasons contribute to subtle changes in the scent from one lot of Lavender to another.

Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping), be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

This has been the best value and linalool content to use as a terp oil for henna dye release. This is the only lavender I use in my henna paste recipe. I use it with cajeput and besides the great linalool content it adds a very pleasant smell to the henna paste.

I'm not really a fan of lavender EOs, and this EO has a grassier scent than a floral one. I think I prefer a sweeter smelling EO. It is, however, very soothing/calming, and it helps me sleep at night.

This is the Lavender I prefer to soap with - I find the smell is TRUE lavender (I don't like 40/42 because I find it too flowery and not "real" lavender). The smell sticks around in CP Soap and is nice and light in little people products where Lavender can be used (in small concentrations). I accidentally bought the South African one last time - but that worked out well too, and it only smelled a little different. This version smells a lot more medicinal - which is the lavender smell that I personally, prefer.

This one smells a bit 'oily' to me, herbaceous without being camphorous, lightly floral. I wanted to like the Spanish, but I prefer the 40/42. This one fades a lot in my CP soaps :(

This lavender reminds me of the aromatherapy class that I actually distilled lavender herb. Rich and full scent and will be used for many products!

I make and sell Lavender products with dried buds. Customers have asked for EO. Bought some of the Spike as a trial. People just love this one. Will get more for a large show/sale coming up in August. Great product, great aroma, and even greater price point.

I purchased this oil for resale. I make lavender products with dried lavender. Customers were asking for EO. So I added it to my products. They LOVE it. Sadly the price has almost doubled since my order of 6 weeks ago.

I use this in all of my lavender bath bombs, and they were probably my #1 seller at Christmas. It reminds me of the lavender plants that my aunt has in her garden, floral with only a slight medicinal smell to them. Very healing.

This one smells very, very similar to Lavender Spike Spain, but it is just stronger. It smells heavy, medicinal, and mature. I wouldn't describe it as floral or fresh... Out of the bottle it smells a bit over powering, but I guess stronger means I can dilute it more.

This is becoming my favourite. And you can't beat the price. Would not use for soaps, but it's great in bath salt and for sleep inducement.

Beautiful and sweet lavender. It's my new favorite! It's not a dark, green smell like some others (which is nice for other uses) but light and floral. Perfect for natural perfumes!

I couldn't make my mind on which lavender EO to order, glad I got this one (thanks to reviews.) It does smell like what I have in mind when I think 'lavender' and what grows in my own garden during summer! Very happy with my purchase, and it goes along so well with Chamomile!

I was surprised to find I prefer this one over the other Lavender oils; The ones I have tried are: French, Bulgarian, South African, Population, Moldova, and 40/42. It strikes me as the most balanced of the lavender oils I have tried. It's close to Moldova but less menthol than Moldova and less herbacious-bitter than French. I like Bulgarian but Bulgarian is a bit weak and fruity-smelling compared to the Spanish. Population seems salty-earthy to me and South African is almost putrid in comparison to Spanish. Spanish Lavender oil seems to hit the right olfactory note. It's excellent when warmed in candles, used to scent a heating pad, or directly on skin. The warmth seems to be the key; that's what brings it out.

Very strong earthy smell. Not sweet. At the end a little of lemonie. NOT good for massage and aroma therapy. Not bad for shower gel, bath salts and scrubs. Quality is poor but price is really cheap.

This is my second Lavender variety after Croatian one which seems to have disappeared and this one is rated favourably. It has a nicely floral and strong scent that lingers on and gives me immediate mental relief. Because it's colorless I use it almost everywhere to infuse some relaxing aroma . However for the price it seems like there is a little bit of a sour aftertaste to the aroma which may suggest overprocessing but then again I am no expert.

Really a very great lavender, but do not purchase for cold process soap, they will fade to much. This lavender is more subtile and lovely in cream, spray etc...
