Product Abstract: Rosewood is an evergreen tree which is considered an endangered species that grows in parts of the tropical rainforest of South America. Our Rosewood oil is CITES Certified (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) and is extracted from Rosewood grown in Peruvian Rosewood plantations (not from the forest). This is done under the strict control of the Government of Peru in accordance with sustainable practices and full traceability. It is a fragrant evergreen tree with a narrow, ellipsoid crown and grows up to 30 m in height and 2 m in diameter. The leaves are leathery and narrowly oval in shape. The tree bears dull red flowers that group together and drupe fruit.
The Rosewood Oil was traditionally used by Amazonian Indians to treat wounds and sores. Today, Rosewood Oil is commercially used in perfumery. This oil is rich in linalool, a constituent, which can be transformed into a number of derivatives of value to the flavor and fragrance industries. Since it emanates a rose-like floral aroma, it is also considered an aphrodisiac and is known to be emotionally uplifting and enlivening. It is also known to be useful for calming the nerves during stressful times. Recently, Rosewood Oil has gained popularity in the skincare industry as it is believed to rejuvenate the skin and is being used in cosmetics preparations like lipsticks, eye shadow, creams, and massage oil.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.
