Product Abstract: Patchouli is a very fragrant herb with soft oval leaves and square stems. It grows from 2 to 3 feet in height and provides an unusual odor that is nonetheless characteristic of patchouli when the leaves are rubbed. It became very popular throughout the British Empire when silks and cashmere shawls from India were packed with Patchouli to discourage insects during shipping, the scent being the final proof of origin. Genuine India Ink was also scented with it. Patchouli improves with age, and the aged oil is what is preferred over that which is freshly harvested. In aromatherapy and perfumery, Patchouli provides an excellent fixative that can help extend other, more expensive oils. The color of the oil is affected by the distillation machine; if the young leaves are distilled in an iron vessel, the color will be deep amber to brown in color, but if done in a stainless steel vessel, the oil will be slightly lighter in color.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: I like patchouli, but straight out of the bottle, this one has a note that is ever so slightly disagreeable to my nose. I haven't experimented with it much, but expect that blended it will be much more agreeable and excited to see what combinations this will shine in. I also anticipate it to age over well and develop and mellow out a bit. Great quality and price make this a good trial purchase!

Rating: Ho Yeah! The scent is so sexy, the Patchouli is light and beautiful. I love it!
Rating: This EO get better over time. Warm, sort of spicy, calming. A little goes a long way! Behaves well in CP soap, lasts nicely.

Rating: I love this patchouli. I use it in my CP soaps and it holds it's scent well. It has a musky, earthy, exotic aroma. I have used the dark patchouli, however, I prefer the light and so do my clientele. This is a great product!

Rating: I ordered both the light and dark patchouli, I adored the dark patchouli immediately. I have wore patchouli as my fragrance for well over 30 plus years and yet when I wafted the light patchouli to my senses, I was immediately put off from the smell. Now that I understand it will need to age- I won't be buying light patchouli again as it smelled terrible.

Rating: I've always been a fan of patchouli and this oil is beautiful. It mixes well and it's scent last in a room for a long time.
Rating: I never knew there was a light and dark patchouli until I ordered this one! I love the scent of this light patchouli, it doesn't smell less than the dark but has a slightly different scent that for some reason reminds me of rootbeer. I am ordering more of this for sure as I just ran out.

Rating: I'm not a huge fan of patchouli, probably because I associate it with the smell of old hippy sweat and marijuana. Based on other reviews, I decided to give this one a try. I'm very glad I did as this oil is much lighter than the more common patchouli scent. I can see how it should blend well with other oils without being overwhelming. Excellent quality and great price!

Rating: This is a great quality oil. I have discovered I am not a big fan of the scent. I made M&P soaps with this and the people that like patchouli really liked this one. A little goes a long way. It is a very earthy scent. I like that it is affordable enough that I can try the other kinds as well :)

Rating: I bought this EO to make a custom CP soap for a friend who loves patchouli. I was surprised to discover that it makes a great base note in so many different types of blends. It's now a staple for me. And my friend adored her CP soap!

Rating: I've never been a huge patchouli fan, but my partner is so I ordered the light. It's alright to me but still has that dusty and dry smell I really dislike. However, other people love it and it really works well in blends. Peppermint and patchouli light have been a staple in my partner's cabinet for months now. I'm still learning to appreciate it, but I'm going to order the dark next to see what happens!

Rating: I like the lighter scent. Some people don't like Patchouli on it's own. Mixes well with other scent for staying power. Behaves perfectly in col process soap. Need very little for melt and pour.

Rating: This EO has done very well in my M&P soap. I added it with a few other EO's to make an earthy/musky/romantic scent for men and its selling faster than I can make it. Will be trying the "dark" patchouli next :)

Rating: Normally Patchouli gives me a headache but Patchouli Light doesn't. I love mixing it with other essential oils when I feel like I need more grounding or want to add an earthy yet not overpowering element to my overall scent.

Rating: I ordered Patchouli light thinking it would be the 'Patch' of the early 70's that I used to wear. It isn't. So I ordered the Patchouli Dark. Eureka!! So if you are looking for the old hippie smell, it's
the other one. :-)

Rating: Overall, patchouli is one of my favourite scents. Unfortunately, many people do not feel that way about patchouli. However, anytime I wear this patchouli, I get a lot of compliments, and seem to hear a lot of sniffing going on around me ! *lol*
Like with most patchoulis, a little goes along way, and when I mix it with some South African lavender, I hear even more sniffing going on around me! I've always liked hearing, 'you smell great', but lately, I've been hearing that phrase a lot more. Thanks NDA!

Rating: This Patchouli is lovely, but it does smell very young to me. I did accomodate for this and I ordered a large quantity that I can age myself while I use the rest of my beautiful, complex and old patchouli. I am benefitting from the 'green-ness' of this oil in that I can use much more of it in my skin care applications without that overwhelming, incredibly recognizable "patchouli smell".
