Botanical Name: Thymus zygis

Main Constituents:
Thymol: 35 - 55%

Plant Part: Leaves

Origin: Spain

Processing Method: Steam Distilled

Description / Color / Consistency: Clear pale yellow to orange liquid.

Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: White Thyme Essential Oil has a spicy, warm, herbaceous scent. It is very powerful and penetrating, with strong herbaceous notes.

Blends With: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary and Pine.

Product Abstract: Influenced greatly by its surroundings, Thymus zygis will produce very different oils depending on climate, soil condition and altitude. Most White Thyme Essential Oil comes from the zygis species of thyme because of its higher percentage of the active constituent, Thymol (45% or greater in superior grades) and its more attractive cost.

Cautions: White Thyme contains a high amount of thymol that can irritate mucus membranes, and must be diluted well before use. Avoid use if under the care of a medical practitioner; should be used only by experienced aromatherapists. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

NOTE: This oil may form crystals during transit or storage at lower temperatures. Gentle warming in a hot water bath while stirring is suggested.

Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Bought this a long time ago but never notice its strength even I've nearly empty the 15ml bottle in various mix. However, its time to shine came when I somehow ended up with some sort of skin infection.

Everything I tried either gave temporary relief or make it worse. They are spreading by weeping clear liquid, sort of sticky. Red dots with black/brown in the middle that easily weep the liquid out when it's "ripe".

Of course, the family doctor is never opened when I need him. I tries various things from ACV, raw honey, orangic coconut oil, various essential oils. ACV, which the internet wisdom said to supposedly help with eczema but that's the one that cause even more rapid spread. Intensely itching.

Eventually, I stopped using anything and just keep the skin dry and only try 1 EO at a time on a smaller area. The area I left alone seems to (very) slowly dry out into rough skin. Does not feel like a complete heal since they still occasionally itch.

I find diluting EO in carrier didn't help but moslty make it worse or only temporarily stop the itching.

Desperate, I tried using them without diluting.

Lavender and a few other calming EO's didn't really show any improvement. Peppermint, Tea Tree and Clove gave a cooling feel but they couldn't stop the blisters from spreading, only slowing down.

Finally, Thyme White was randomly picked (not exactly random, but was picked because of its supposed strength). It almost instantly give a feel of burning itch. Similar to applying rubbing alcohol to disinfect a wound. Only it's much much more intense. This last for 10 minutes or more. The only relief was to touch the "burning" area to briefly relief the intense burning & itching.

The problem is that, it kills/stops the blisters but it isn't drying them out. After a day, I started mixing with Tea Tree, about 60% Tea Tree. Not only the intense burning/itching is much much more tolerable, it's also drying out the blisters. Tea Tree does not disappoint when it comes to drying out your skin.

At the begining, i could stop the itching ~8 hours after a wash using a mixture of baking soda, salt, peppermint EO and water. This immediately relief the itch after rubbing on the affected area.

I don't recommend anyone to try anything I've tried above. Since, everyone react to each EO differently.

I think what I have is some kind of staph infection since I don't remember ever having some sort of eczema, other than the regular acne popping up here and there.

I love the scent of this white thyme essential oil. Slightly sharp and awakening, but soothing and fresh. Not as harsh as the red thyme. Smells woody and herbal, exactly like a thyme garden.

Certainly not my favourite scent... will have to try a very small bit of it mixed with some other things!

Very strong oil, use well-diluted like NDA advises. Not a fan of the smell but the benefits make it worth it

Wonderful price point for an extremely valuable antiseptic oil. I use it in my personnal care formulations at 0.05% as part of my all natural perservative system and I also use it in my all natural household cleansers.
