Botanical Name: Bursera Graveolens

Main Constituents:
Limonene: 13%

Plant Part: Wood

Origin: Ecuador

Processing Method: Steam Distilled

Description / Color / Consistency: A thin, clear, pale yellow to light brown liquid.

Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A top note with a medium aroma, Palo Santo Essential Oil has a fresh, intense woody aroma with a slight hint of citrus.

Blends With: Cedarwood, Sandalwood and other wood oils.

Product Abstract: Palo Santo is a tree found originally in the tropical forests on the coast of the South Pacific, but Ecuador is now the main country where this tree is harvested. Palo Santo Oil is concentrated, and found only in the interior of the tree's trunk. It can take up to 10 years to produce the oil. The average life of the tree of Palo Santo is between 80 and 90 years, but because of over-harvesting, only tree branches that have fallen naturally to the ground are used for the distillation of this oil. The natives in Ecuador have used it to perfume their homes. It was also used in rituals by shamans.

Cautions: Dilute well before use; for external use only. A dermal irritant, it may cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping), be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Very nice oil...At first, when you open the bottle, it takes some getting used to - it's like a sharper, more balsamic smell than Frankincense (which I love). Best application is just to dilute it in carrier oil (1 tablespoon) and 1-2 drops of Palo Santo, rub between your palms and INHALE. It was great! Good for meditation and also, once you learn how precious this oil is and how hard it is to harvest (waiting for YEARS after a fallen tree has died before extracting the resin), you will truly appreciate this precious gift from nature.

This has a mild, rounded, spicy-woody smell, similar to Frankincense Carterii but milder. Kind of like a Frank-and-myrrh combo. Really like this one!

This oil is beautiful. I discovered the wood while in Ecuador a number of years ago and have used that to insince my home by lighting it for a bit until the smoke comes. The smell of this oil is exactly the same. So happy to have discovered this here.

This oil is not that easy to find and the quality is wonderful. Many clients like this pure oil or diluted slightly for burning and for clearing energy. Shamans, Reiki and Holistic healers love this product and so do I!

An aroma is very similar to Frankincense but a bit softer and more exotic, even the price is similar. I could see using this in a perfume or incense.

this is a really very lovely atypical wood--a little minty and creamy, it's a round, mellow smell. i know it is used for sacred purposes, but it blends so well with sandalwoods, cedars, milder evergreens, and really softens the edges and blends gorgeously, that i cannot help myself but use it in fragrance blends. worth every cent and then some. i can see where it gets its reputation for being meditative and dreamy.

This is a unique oil I fell into a few years back while living it the Bay Area as it was all the rage at Berkeley's Cafe Gratitude (a raw food cafe and holistic store). I love it for meditation or to chill out when I've managed to get myself all worked up over life's stresses.

This is an excellent oil to enhance meditation or ground yourself when going to busy public places. I mixed some with a simple base oil in a roll-on application tube and keep in in my purse. Very woody scent. My husband likes to wear it mixed with patchouli or ylang-ylang.

a very powerful EO (a tiny bit goes a very long way!) that is excellent for clearing negative energy. it's also an effective deterrent against bed bugs (you can make a spray with eucalyptus, lavender and a few other oils, for example). i also made a incredible-smelling scouring powder with a baking soda base and a blend of palo santo (just a drop for 1 cup!), orange, tea tree and lavender. it makes you want to clean something. ; )
