Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

Rating: Smells fantastic, methyl salicylate is the traditional "minty" smell, which people ultimately confuse with (iso)Menthone/Menthol.
Wintergreen has a smell similar to toothpaste and breath mints (as the methyl salicylate is used as a fragrance / flavoring). However, be careful Methyl Salicylate is on the Cosmetic Ingredients Hotlist in Canada and its concentration must not exceed 1% of the final product (including solvents).
Ingestion will cause salicylate poisoning. This can be quite dangerous, the oil should not be used improperly, do no eat essential oils, nor apply them to the skin undiluted.
Rating: I use it for: Muscle Pain relief, Cold & Flu, Digestive issues, Skin & Hair treatment, Aid to expell excess of Water , Fat & Salt and to give energy.
I read we can also put a drop in a cup of tea to release beneficial enzymes !

Rating: One of my most favourite oils! I absolutely love this oil. It's fresh, and gives me a happy feeling. I feel like my lungs open up when I smell this oil, that same feeling I get when I walk in the woods.
Rating: This wintergreen essential oil smells wonderful. Takes me back to walks in the woods in the north country. It did, however, accelerate trace in CP soap.
Rating: While it does smell like mint toothpaste or pepto bismol, this EO is amazing for cooling salves! It also makes a super popular soap when mixed with peppermint EO.

Rating: I've been dabbling with essential oils for awhile now. And I've done a lot of research on their use, and decided to start making my own products. Well...my husband was complaining about how much his knee hurt. (And he's one of those men who doesn't complain, especially about pain) So I went and got a bottle of oil and said let me put this on. He said "you're not putting that crap on me" I said humour me. So I put the Wintergreen oil on his knee. A few minutes later he looked at me and said.... and I quote... "I can't believe I'm going to say this.... but that stuff really works." So if you're looking for an oil for pain, Wintergreen is a must to include!
Rating: It smells EXACTLY like pepto bismol to me. Considered making a pink soap in round moulds and calling them pepto soaps, otherwise i will not use it in soap. Might look up muscle recipes for it i guess - or give it away.
Rating: This product smells like toothpaste to me. It has a mint type undertone but it really smells like wintergreen gum or toothpaste to me. It is true to it's name and description, however I will not be purchasing it again as it is definately not my favorite.
Rating: I ordered this to compare to White Birch. Love the scent, and will experiment with the analgesic effect on sore muscles.

Rating: Gorgeous scent, just like the lifesavers - my favorite mint! Smells a lot like Rub A535 (which I love), and would be perfect for muscle rubs. However, WARNING, it is HIGHLY TOXIC if ingested. Like 1 ml will kill a child.

Rating: Got it and love it! Just like the lifesavers.

Rating: great price...good product, but must exercise caution as this essential oil is considered dangerous in the wrong hands. As with any product, all information should be read carefully and theraputic use should be left to those who are qualified. (As a hobbyist I know my limits).

Rating: I am happy to recommend Oil of Wintergreeen from this site. It is the best quality oil and half the price of my previous supplier. It has been temporarily out of stock in the past and one day when I was ordering other oils from the New Directions, I was blessed to find that it was available in abundance. I purchased over $500.00 worth at that time so I would have a supply for a time. Today when I checked the site for other matters I noticed that it was out of stock again. I was very grateful that I had purchased the quanity that I did a short time ago. I guess having the supply low and the demand high speaks volumes in itself!
