Cedarwood oil is a known for its soothing and cooling properties. It can act as an anti-bacterial cleanser and is suitable to use on acne-prone skin. A huge component of Cedarwood oil are sesquiterpenes, which have cleansing properties. Cedarwood oil is used by natural skin care enthusiasts for its mild astringent-like properties, helping to control the oiliness of the skin. It is also believed to tighten the skin and make the pores look smaller.
How to Choose Your Cedarwood Oil
There are a number of Cedarwood varieties that lend their own unique essence of the tree. It is interesting to note that Atlas and Himalayan Cedars are members of the Pinaceae family while all other cedars are of the Cupressaceae family. You will notice that the main constituent in Atlas and Himalayan Cedarwoods is Himachalene, whereas Cedarwoods of the Cupressacae family contain Cedrol and Thujopsene as primary main constituents. You will find that Cedarwoods belonging to the same family resemble each other more closely in scent as well.
NOTE: Cedrol is a component of Cedarwood oil that can crystallize. If this happens, gently heat your Cedarwood oil in a hot water bath to return it to liquid consistency.

It is also a great base note used in fragrances. It is slightly higher in the main constituents than the Organic variety.
