Description / Color / Consistency: A thin, colorless to pale yellow liquid.
Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A base note with a medium aroma, Boswellia serrata has a warm and spicy, woody balsamic aroma that is distinct from Somalian/Middle Eastern Frankincense. Its pungent aroma is noticeably different and lacks the smokey notes of the Carterii variety.
Product Abstract: Frankincense originates from a small scraggly but hardy tree indigenous to the Middle East, which is small with abundant pinnacle leaves and white or pale pink flowers. The resin begins as a fragrant sticky milky-white liquid that flows from the trunk of the tree when cut. The dried tears are collected, and the resin is then distilled, producing the precious oil. The resin is known as olibanum, derived from the Arabic al-luban or 'that which results from milking', referring to the milky sap. It is used as incense, and has been traded for 5,000 years. Widely used in ancient Egypt, it was one of the ingredients used in the holy oil described in the Talmud. Frankincense was brought back to Europe by Frankish Crusaders (Frank-incense), and the oil is still highly prized today in the perfumery industry, and widely used in the manufacturing of skin-care products.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: You can't beat the price of this frankincense, and the scent is good. It's a little bit petroleum smelling, but this dissipates and you end up with a slightly pine and spicy aroma. I love it.

Rating: This a great product that has an amazing scent. The price point makes it a go to for your Frankincense needs.

Rating: I received this Frankincense Oil as a Gift not knowing quite what to expect.
Wow! Powerful notes and all I could hope it to be.
It was recommended to use for bumps, bits and scrapes and works like a charm on bug bites.
A friend got a nasty spider bite and Frank removed the discomfort and itching in no time at all.
I might get curious and try others, but for now this works beautifully.
Thanking NDA for an outstanding product.

Rating: I first ordered a small sample of this oil based on previous reviews. I am now ordering a larger size as I enjoy the scent and use it in combination with lavender and lemongrass in my skin preparations for its beneficial properties.
Rating: Warm, soothing. A good healing oil. I like it in facial salves. Not a huge fan of the scent.
By:Cindy, Chatsworth, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 06-Dec-2012
Rating: Very turpentine-like smell - some may like it more than others... I am not sure if this is my favorite...This is Frankincense Serrata and not Carterii, however, this does not mean anything in terms of quality of the oil, therapeutic uses, just of the fragrance. I am not a great fan of the smell, but I have just read about the amazing properties this oil has. And by the way, this is the one used by the Christian Orthodox Church, together with myrrh. This is why it is also used in meditation and spiritual practices.
Rating: I have had two batches now of Frank, the first was as it bee stated fuelish smelling, this batch is much smoother, fresher, less fuelish, I find it smoother, must be new cuttings. A top seller

Rating: After sitting around for 9 months, the gasoline smell has dissipated, and it is a mild spicy resinous smell now. Much more pleasant and comparable (although milder and less complex) to the Carterii. Considering the price, I give it 5 stars. At a higher price point maybe 3-4 stars after aging. Currently it is around $11/100ml.
By:Stephanie, Lethbridge, Alberta Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 25-Sep-2015
Rating: I agree its a tad forceful the first note from the bottle, but............. alot of folks like that note in any event......... i like this diffused, its fairly complex and strong at first or on its own, but seems to heighten other oils when used in a synergy. I like it frankly, pardon the pun. You can't beat the price, you just can't.
By:Tim, Canfield, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 23-Mar-2016
Rating: Best price for Frankensense oil in Canada. The quality seems to be there.
By:Susanne, Newmarket, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 15-Jul-2007
Rating: The person who described this as opening with a gasoline-smell nailed it. It smells exactly like when filling your car with gas at first. I don't hate the smell, but it's definitely recognizable. It then does fade to a milder more subtle resinous smell. I'm not the hugest fan of Frankincense in general, but the Carterii is preferable (stronger, resinous/woody, complex, with no gas notes). However, I am planning to use this in my facial toner and cleanser for astringent properties, and I imagine it will perform similarly to the Carterii.
By:Stephanie, Lethbridge, Alberta Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 25-Sep-2015
Rating: This Frankincense is very different than Egyptian frankensense. Spend a bit more money and get better quality. This opens up with a gasoline type smell , then tapers off to a more subtle scent. I would go with Frankincense- boswellia caterii!

Rating: I bought this oil because I read it was the oil that matches my astrology sign (Virgo), so thought I'd try it. I really like it and have it in my diffuser, plus used it my CP soaps. Will absolutely buy again. I love NDA's essential oils!
By:Tracy, Fergus, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 03-Jan-2016
Rating: Love the scent from the bottle. This one is totally new for me. I cannot wait to use it at Christmas.
By:Julie, South Porcupine, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 20-Mar-2015
Rating: Beautiful, and a bargain! Handle with care -- if too concentrated it opens with a strong gasoline-ish note. (Which I actually like, but probably it's not for everyone.) As this wears off the remaining scent is herbal/piney/lemony, slowly moving toward a sweeter standard frankincense resin/brown sugar scent.

Rating: I love this oil! Was my first time trying Frankincense and it smells really exotic, rich and deep to me. I live in the tropics surrounded by rich, exotic and deep - and yet this oil stands out as something special! Really enjoy it, will be buying a bigger bottle next time :)

By:Manon, Rawdon, Quebec Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 07-Jun-2011
Rating: I was a bit apprehensive with regards to other reviews but I can say having used both Frankincense varieties here that this is a good and useful one and for the price is unbeatable. It's just a little bit softer and less exotic than the Carteri Egyptian version but still good enough for everyday use and it has an unmistakeable Frankincense feel.
By:Vladimir, Toronto, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 29-Apr-2011
Rating: I loved the Egyptian Frankincense when I tried it, and thought I'd give this one from India a try as well. They are very different and I really don't like this one: it has an unpleasant medicinal, cloying quality, to me, compared to the gorgeously clean, austere spice of the Egyptian variety. Ah well. I tried something new!
By:Angel, Toronto, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 14-Apr-2010
Rating: I found the scent very pleasant and have added this EO in my diffuser mixed with bergamot, sage and and the orange ginger fragrance (all from ND). The scent was lovely and great for meditation.

Rating: I have been purchasing Frankincense from Somalia which is amazing but so is the price. This Frankincense I would definitely purchase again and so far is excellent in blends or on its own. Most clients quite enjoy it!
By:Kalli, Calgary, Alberta Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 28-Apr-2010
Rating: Nice scent, but not quite that strong incense smell I'm used to with my old supplier of Frankincense. Maybe I'll try the Egyptian.

Rating: Great price! Great therapeutic oil! I love the smell! Thank-you NDA!
By:Susan, Whitby, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 17-Feb-2010
Rating: Hard to believe that such a useful eo could be so inexpensive. This is a top notch oil. I have not tried the Egyptian frankincense, but at this price for this quality, I have no reason to switch.
Rating: This variety fom India has an almost sparkling quality to it. I absolutely love it!
By:Jefa, Calgary, Alberta Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 20-Jun-2006
Rating: Not generally a fan of frankincense, but when mixed with lavender it is simply breathtaking!
By:Kia, Montreal, Quebec Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 08-Mar-2010
Rating: I love the smell of this e.o. It adds an exotic element to my blends. Very interesting to experiment. I must order more !
By:Louise, Montreal, Quebec Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 25-Feb-2006
Rating: It's really interesting and a good price as well. now that I know what it smells like I'm not too sure how to blend it. I'll figure something out.
By:Danielle, Surrey, British Columbia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Apr-2010
Rating: I use this eo in one of my blends for my solid perfumes.
Not too strong, good for the base of the perfume.
By:Marilyn, Newmarket, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 11-Jan-2010
Rating: This is a rich oil with a dark, smoky smell. Lovely in oils and in masks. Not as complex as other frankincense oils I've used, but still very nice.
By:Jenn, Vancouver, British Columbia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 15-Mar-2010
Rating: This EO is intoxicating! it's absolutely heavenly with vanilla 10x.
By:Jackie, Porter's Lake, Nova Scotia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 21-Jan-2009
Rating: I find the frereana sweeter than the Egyptian, but the difference in cost is too good to pass up. I find frankincense to be one of my more useful EOs. It's good for rubbing on the chest and sinuses as an expectorant, putting in a nebulizer to help with sleep, rubbing between the palms and inhaling in times of anger, sadness, anxiety or grief... it seems to have the ability to dissolve negative energy, be it with mental or physical health.
By:Crystal, Port Moody, British Columbia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Apr-2008
Rating: This is a wonderfully healing essential oil, well tolerated by even the most sensitive of skin. It has become a regular player in my lotions and creams, and adds a stable, happy note to the scent as well as a excellent therapeutic value.
By:Stacey, Toronto, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 08-Dec-2007
Rating: This is one precious oil indeed ! Its both wispy and mysterious, it feels like a long corridor ; at first you notice the wall solvent odor but with wooden tones, much like the texture of the smell of fir. Then you find out that its just more than that, its variety of tone is amazing. This is an exeptional oil in terms of quality, very thin, very volatile ! Again pleasantly surprised by the quality of products from india, recommended strongly for skin applications, does not overpower other oils.
If I was to describe this one in one word it would be : Pure Light.
Rating: Soothing, healing, and preserving all in one. The scent of this oil is intriguing, and its properties are very valuable for anyone making healing creams and salves.
By:Stacey, Toronto, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 08-Dec-2007
Rating: It's hard to believe that something that smells so good could cost so little. It is a perfect oil for our salves with it's astringent qualities. It blends so beautifully and adds that subtle, mysterious aroma that our customers can't put their finger on. We love it!

Rating: I love this oil. I make a facial oil made with sweet almond oil and a few drops of this. Great for the skin.
Rating: Frankincense essential oil is fantastic in the facial products. It gives the skin a fresh clean glow. You can really tell how pure this oil is.
By:Shirleen, Markham, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 24-Jul-2006
Rating: This frankincense is the best I've ever used. It is rich, complex with just the perfect amount of bite. It isn't bitter or sour like so many other frankincense oils out there. Definately worth a try!
By:Sandi, Vancouver, British Columbia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Nov-2005
Rating: Frankincense is one of my favorites as it always lends a helpful hand in dealing with the spiritual side of things. This one is pure and unadulerated and most certainly will be used over and over again.
