Rating: I have smelled Ylang Ylang from other brands and was turned off. But since I was happy with other products from NDA I took my chances and bought this one. Turns out I love it and use it in my diffuser at night. When blended with lavender and clary sage it's a wonderful soothing slightly sweet floral aroma, only 2-3 drop is needed. I will be purchasing again. It's a good quality oil.
Rating: Thanks to the other reviews I was not shocked by the smell of this oil, However it is totally usable and I love it. I wanted it for its benefits not just its smell. I mix it with cinnamon bark, bergamot and grapefruit for an awesome male enhancement blend.

Rating: This steam ginger smells horrible. It smells like mold. Smells nothing like ginger, and dont be fooled by people who tell you it smells like ginger after you add it to a product - it wont smell any different. It has ruined every product I have added it to.
If you want a nice ginger, get the CO2 one.
All steam gingers smell bad, tho this one is probably the worst I have smelled. The price sucks for the CO2 one, but its the only option in my opinion.

Rating: I bought this ginger and the CO2 ginger so I could compare. This one is definitely not pleasant aroma! I'll keep using it carefully in blends to use it up, but I'll only be buying the CO2 ginger from now on.

Rating: I much prefer the scent of the CO2 ginger! It is worth paying a bit more for the nicer smell.

Rating: Very potent essential oil, you dont need much in CP soap.

Rating: The smell of this when sniffing at the bottle is not that great. It smells like an earthy, root and not really what you would think of ginger. You can tell it is ginger if you hold the bottle farther from your nose. It smells better diluted and still works very well for the benefits and it costs less. I have purchased the CO2 version this time and can't wait to try that since that seems to be highly recommended over this steam version - at least for the smell of it.

Rating: This was not at all what the CO2 version smells like, very musty smelling with only a hint of ginger scent. If you want the 'typical' ginger scent go with the CO2 version

Rating: I was not expecting this scent. Definitely invest in the CO2 version!

Rating: surprisingly deep and woodsy aroma. not what one would expect of the usual crisp bright and spicy ginger root. perhaps it's the extraction method... not what i was expecting.

Rating: I want to reply to a review but can't. Just for info regarding scent vs the CO2 version.
I read that Ginger root is volatile and chemical compounds will react when hitting 90F.
So, if you want the true ginger root smell, go for the CO2 version since that extract method is supposedly using 87F. (Steam distillation goes beyond 100F?)

Rating: I don't like this ginger at all. I purchased the CO2 last time and I find it is better than the steam. The steam version smells old and musty with a hint of ginger. Putting in an order for the CO2!

Rating: Ordered this EO to make christmas soap, but was dissapointed to find it smelled like dirt. Definitely NOT a ginger scent, and was further dissapointed when the cost to ship the product to return it was more than double the cost of the actual EO.

Rating: I normally love New Directions scents...this one however was awful. I tossed it out. It smells like dirt, mixed with some old Chinese food or something. I'm quite disappointed, as I purchased this specifically to make some soap for my Mom for Christmas.

Rating: I don't like this scent it smells like dirt. Does not smell like ginger to me, I added it to a blend and it made it muddy.
Rating: A terrific ginger EO. It smell spicy-woody and fresh. Excellent in CP soap. Scent stays true and strong. Blends wonderfully with any citrus EO, sandalwood, patchouli, cedarwood and rosewood.
