Product Abstract: Palmarosa is a wild plant that grows in the area northeast of Bombay and across the Himalayan Mountains to Nepal and to a lesser extent, Pakistan. It has long slender stems and terminal flowering tops. The grassy leaf from which the essential oil is derived is extremely fragrant. It is used extensively as a fragrance component in cosmetics, perfumes and especially soaps due to its excellent tenacity. Palmarosa is a member of the Lemongrass family, and was known as Indian Geranium Oil. It is still used in blends to extend the more expensive Rose oils.
Cautions: Dilute well before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: Very very sweet, floral, slightly citrusy and rosy undertones! Too strong for some people, most however like it! Cheaper alternative to rose or geranium. I use only 1% in my melt & pour soaps and that is plenty!

Rating: I find this oil super sweet smelling, and wasn't quite sure what to do with it. I decided to try a drop in my face cream and wow!! It brings out the complexity of other scents and makes my face super soft.

Rating: I usually prefer to use organic essential oils, but I didn't quite like the high sour (citronella) notes of the organic palmarosa available here, so I decided to try this one instead. I am curious to see how it will mature in my blends - it definitely has a more rosy scent, but it's also heavier and sweeter.
Rating: On it's own, Palmarosa is STRONG, maybe even a little pungent. However, it blends gorgeously with wood and citrus essential oils, bringing out a full-bodied EO blend. Definitely don't smell the "rose" in this, but love it nonetheless.

Rating: What would I do without this in my rose soap!!?? While the scent is very strong , it is a excellent alternative to rose oil. ( which I can't afford) I blend with the rose bouquet FO and scarlet FO and it makes a marvelous rose scent!! Just order myself a 2nd bottle of it.

Rating: Sort of an odd, lemony-sweet-spice scent. Not bad, just interesting. Almost addicting, I sort of like it.

Rating: On its own, I don't LOVE the scent...although I don't dislike it either. But it blends beautifully with so many other oils, and its therapeutic properties are amazing! I can't do without it now.

Rating: This oil smells like wet dog. I can usually get past an oils scent for its therapeautic value but with this one I am still trying to find something to mask its odor so I can actually use it. I will not be buying this one again.

Rating: well, this oil has the same strangely sweet-off-smell that the cinnamon bark (organic), and cinnamon leaf, and lemongrass - regular and organic did for me. I can't pinpoint what it is. But those others aged well and the strange scent diminished over months. This does have a rose-ish, geranium-ish smell to it. Will try it in very small amounts in blends.

Rating: Ehhhh, kind of icky for me. Has the same strange sweetish odor I've had an issue with with Lemongrass and Cinnamon (Leaf & Bark) from ND. It does have a sweet floral note as well. Won't be buying again, but will use this up as it is a broad-spectrum germicide - I mix with Lemongrass and Cassia to kill everything in the air when we are sick.

Rating: I adore Palmarosa! Its delicate sweet rose like scent with a hint of citrus is just heaven. I use it in my soaps and the aroma is stable and lasting. Very feminine as is, but blends well with almost every scents. Very affordable compared to rose oil, an excellent alternative. For me, Palmarosa is a 'must' in my soap making supplies.

Rating: I purchased the trial size, excellent pricing, as always, from New Directions. i really like this scent and use it it many of my combinations, especially, but not limited to those for ladies' use. delightful, uplifting, floral/spicy/slight citrus aroma
Rating: Another fantastic product offering from ND. I use Palmarosa mainly as an EO in my bug repellent sprays. It's not a scent I like in my personal care products, but I love it added to other strong smelling florals, to keep the bugs at a distance.
The price point is also very attractive in the 100ml size.

Rating: I purchased this oil for its anitviral properties and it did not disappoint. It has a much more pleasing aroma than tea tree and is very effective.

Rating: I had kept reading about this oil, and didn't think I needed to add it to my collection, but I was curious. My order came just in time as I was making a night serum for my face, and it's perfect. Not as overpowering as I expected, and just right for an oil dilution. Anyone who wants an economical and gentle floral scent in their products should try this.

Rating: I am happy with my first order of Palma Rosa EO.Very nice floral smell. I use it in my CP soaps. Also lovely as a room and linen spray mixed with a little clear alcohol and water. I already ordered it again this time 1000ml. Thanks New Directions for a great product and price!

Rating: an odd scent that is difficult to "un-pack" at first, but I think I finally got it: palmarosa hits your nose with a warm flush of rose and follows quickly with a tangy citronella finish - similar to rose geranium but less cloying and more complex. I think it would be lovely with lemongrass or petitgrain.
Rating: When I first smelled this it was not what I was expecting..Granted, I had no idea WHAT to expect as I've never ever smelled the stuff.
So judging only by the name, I thought floral. What I got was tea. A nice, warm, Sunday afternoon cup of tea. I LOVE it.

Rating: I purchased this EO for its antibacterial properties. I mixed this EO with lavender EO to create a beautiful fragrance, perfect to diffuse in my nebulizer. I also added some to eucalyptus EO and made wax tarts. A little goes a long way.

Rating: The top note is just awful!! Like a rotten fermented tea with a hint of citrus. I just wanted to through it right away! But, after 15 minutes, I rubbed an almost dried blotting paper on my arm as on the paper, it only smelled fermentation: the smell is not bad at all, it has woody and rosy notes, it's even good indeed. But, you'll definitely have to add few drops of another EO more woody/rosy/citrusy notes if you prefer or if you want to mask this fermented/tea-type scent.

Rating: An interesting scent-a little hard to pin down at times. It changes outside of the bottle, and seems to be different, depending on the medium. In creams, it takes on a lemony tea scent. In room sprays, the floral attributes are more apparent. Mixed with cedarwood in a soy candle, it is my husband's favourite! It takes on a sweet, almost sugary note. Can't wait to try it in soaps.

Rating: This is not the best palmarosa I have ever experienced, but at this price it's simply amazing. This oil works ! I would not consider it a skin irritantas the description says, maybe in high doses, because it stimulates circulation like not many other. It feels warm on the skin and at the right dosage it can be a very pleasing oil to work with !
It feels a little overpowering from up close, but it soons melts into a pink fluid fragrance, feels a bit citrusy even with some distance. A wonderful array of floral bouquet soon follows afterwards.
Rating: This oil is a surprise hit at my clinic. Try palmarosa in a salt or sugar scrub. I use its gentle, penetrating scent in an incense my incense-making class called "Fluid Focus".
By:Tracey, Toronto, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Jan-2007
Rating: I totally agree that Palmarosa has lasting power in cold process soaps, something that can be tricky with other essential oils. I use this wonderful oil in several different scent blends with great success.

Rating: It smells terrible from the bottle but when I poured out a few drops and got a good whiff, I was glad I got this EO.
Rating: Nice Scent! I personally hate the smell of geranium bourbon so I was scared of this one (I figured it would be similar). I am pleasantly surprised!
