Main Constituents:
Linalool: 25 - 45%
Linalyl acetate: 20 - 40%
Camphor: Max 0.6%

Plant Part: Flowers

Origin: Bulgaria

Processing Method: Steam Distillation

Description / Color / Consistency: A thin, clear, colourless to pale yellow liquid.

Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A top note of strong aroma, Lavender (Bulgaria) has a rich floral scent that is somewhat fruitier, mellower and less camphoraceous than Lavender 40/42, and smells more like fresh lavender.

Blends With: Bay, Bergamot, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Geranium, Jasmine, Lemon, Mandarin, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Pine, Thyme, Rosemary, Rosewood and Ylang-ylang.

Product Abstract: The Lavender plant is a woody evergreen shrub, up to 1 meter tall, with pale green, narrow linear leaves and violet blue flowers. The entire plant is covered with oil glands, which are in the star shaped hairs that cover the plant. Lavender has been used since ancient times, and the Romans added lavender to their bath water, hence the name from the Latin lavare, 'to wash'. Differences in soil, altitude and temperature, precipitation and seasons contribute to subtle changes in the scent from one lot of Lavender to another.

Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

A staple in my essential oil collection and great quality oil. I try to use as much organic oils as possible, but since this one's eco certified I gave this a try too. I often find a big scent difference between organic and non-organic oils, but this ecocert version is in the same quality-category as the certified organic lavender. Smells rich, fresh, and complex. I use it in blends and as a standalone scent in my coconut-soy wax and it is strong enough to fill a room with a lavender scent. I'm very happy with this product!

I came to NDA looking for a lavender scent similar to Saje's and Young Living's and I'm very happy with this one. Buying a 500ml next!

Strong scent & rich floral notes — this is my favourite Lavender EO! Tiny bit goes a long way & it mixes so well with woodsy scents or fruity scents. A must-have in your EO collection.

I like it better than the 40/42 which I was also pretty happy about. The Bulgaria smells a bit sweeter.

The Bulgarian Lavender is incredibly sharp in aroma but sweet, luscious and very beautiful like a first date that went amazingly well. In it's pure form it is very volatile in scent however this can be diluted over time or with carrier oils. This variety of lavender oil can put you in a relaxed state and make you very sleepy. It's pretty good. My only problem was that I told NDA to "Handle the oils with care" yet there is a dent on the 1000ml can they sent me hence the -1 star. Still very pleased with this lusciously exotic Bulgarian Lavender!

I only use Bulgarian Lavender EO in my products as it is so richly floral & balsamic in fragrance. It has always given depth and strength to everything I create, with VERY rapid results. One very important thing to state is that babies & children love it as it sends them to sleep very quickly.

I bought multiple essential oils from here. I made a mistake. I was using lavender oil on my skin with Jojoba oil and i found my face very dry, Rosemary oil with coconut oil for thickening my hair but certainly, more hair fall started. Even i adjusted the drops but no result. They are selling fake essential oil Also the i did not like the smell quality

Absolutely disgusting how their prices have skyrocketed. They first discontinued their French lavender which was well priced and now this essential oil was for 143cad for 500ml and they have hiked it to 220? Why? How? Such a rip-off this company has become. Absolutely done dealing with their stuff. Boycotted.

I'll be upfront with you, I think lavender smells like "old lady" and reminds me of the stately grandmothers at church when I was a youngster. Now that I'm an old lady myself, I don't like the smell in the slightest. But the review isn't about me. This is an amazing quality therapeutic EO that has so many wonderful healing properties. My favorite use is mosquito bites. I have a very bad response to any type of bug bite but mosquito bites swell on my into the size of a softball and become very hard and extremely itchy for several weeks and then leave a horrific scar behind that lasts for years. When we go camping several times over the summer, I take along a homemade bug juice of EOs that keeps them away from me for the most part. But when one of those little blood suckers gets me, I apply 1 single drop of lavender oil directly onto the bite and swelling drops within minutes. I don't have nearly as much itch, it's at least at a level that I control with mind over matter. It still takes weeks for the bite to disappear but hardly any scarring now. If you need to heal, put up with smelling like an old lady and use this oil! The quality is top notch and it's truly very effective.

Great product at reasonable price! I use it in my henna and it gives a nice scent. I also add this to my skin serum, soaps and lotions. One of my favourite essential oils!

I have not tried the other varieties but this is a nice, but very strong scent. I added just a splash to a ceaderwood and fir CP combo and it most definitely would have taken over if I didn't add it in stages! I look forward to trying on its own in another recipe.

This is my favourite of all New Directions lavender. It's less camphorous than some of the others which I like to apply neat on sore joints. But this one is more relaxing and I like it in a diffuser as it makes the room smell great. Especially with a little patchouli at night. For daytime I mix the patchouli with sweet orange for an energetic effect.

J'aime beaucoup cette lavande à l'odeur plus florale. Elle dure jusqu'au cÅ"ur du savon. C'est ma favorite. I so much like this lavender. It is more floral and has not this camphorated smell. It is my favorite. And it holds very well.

Beautiful earthy scent, the first lavender that my husband actual likes, as it is not overly floral. I find some lavenders overpowering, but not this one.

I bought this because it was a great price on sale. At first I was alarmed because of the top note which is fruity and reminds me of geranium a scent I don't particularly love. Smelling it out of the bottle I could only make out the top note which I didn't like but I put about 20 drops on the cotton of an aromatherapy nasal inhaler and using it that way the potent, woodsy camphor smell of lavender came out with just a tiny hint of the floral. It's a strong and unique smell a nice departure from traditional French lavender.

A great essential oil to have, although it is definitely not my favourite lavender. The Bulgarian variety is sweet, almost fruity with an under layer of floral. If you are looking for the typical sharp lavender scent, this is not for you. This would be great for anyone who doesn't want the sharp, camphorus smell of "true" lavender.

If you like the sharp, camphorous Lavender smell, this is not it. This Lavender has the lowest camphor content and is sweetly floral, without being overbearing. I tried all of the ND Lavenders - 4042, French, Population, South African, and this one was my favorite BY FAR. It is also the subtype that (YL) sells. Highly recommend this one over all the others :)

I chose Bulgarian because it has the lowest camphor content, which makes this oil AMAZING for spot treatment because it is not irritating at all! Its scent is not too strong, but aromatic enough to give me a good night's sleep. I have nothing but LOVE LOVE LOVE for this oil!

The reason I am giving a two-star rating on this lavender oil is because I have the ND South African lavender oil to compare it to. The South African lavender smells more woodsy/vibrant and true to what I imagine when I think of a pure lavender scent. This Bulgarian lavender smells a bit cough-syrupy to me, and is not something I will be using regularly. Into the first-aid kit it goes!

So far, Lavender Bulgarian is my favourite smell of the Lavender Oil. I also have Lavender Ukraine, Lavender Population, and Lavender 40/42 (but still I like all of them!). Lavender Ukraine has more woody and earthy smell, Lavender Population has more thiner delicate flowery smell, and Lavender 40/42 has more sharper and stronger aroma. To me, the aroma of Lavender Bulgarian is very close to the aroma of the real lavender flowers. This essential oil is also very helpful in healing and minimizing the effect of minor burns and cuts.

I love this Lavender Bulgarian. I go through alot of Lavender in my home, and the Bulgarian is the best one for killing flu and pneumonia in the winter...i use it in a steam for inhalation...it's great doing it right before bedtime and i get a great nights sleep too. The notes are also beautiful. At the great price drop, its the best time to stock up in larger quantities.

This is a great lavender. I have purchased the Barreme and a few others; I have to say the Bulgarian is by far the one I prefer to sprinkle on my pillowcase before bed. To me, it smells more like a lavender flower than the Barreme. I can't quite figure out if I like the Barreme or not, so for now, I am using it mixed with a carrier oil for tired legs and feet - which is great if your feet sweat a lot. I love to mix the Bulgarian in with a carrie oil for use above the waist, such as aching arms, tension in the forehead and just for the pleasure of the scent near my nose. I will definitely purchase this one again.

I am a retired sargeant major of artillery(Canada) and, since my retirement several years ago, I have had the greatest of difficulty sleeping. Over the years I have tried many different kinds, brands, strengths, and forms of lavender essences but never the Bulgarian (which I only found out about recently). It just arrived and for the first time in what seems to be ages, I have had a good night's sleep. The aroma seems stronger and more soporific than the French and seems heavier and more robust than the others I've tried. It's not Granny's lavender but could be Grandpa's.Thank you ND!

I purchased 3 different types: this, french and barreme. This one is still nice, but not my favourite of the 3. It smells like lavender, but not as lavender-y as the other 2. It has a hint of something else...a whiff of something like pine maybe? I can't put my finger on it, but it's definitely a forest smell. I love how new directions gives us so many choices to experience all the subtle differences in one plant variety!

This is the best Lavender I've ever tried. Pricer than others but definitely worth the extra expense. This one's great in a diffuser, especially in my daughter's room when she has trouble sleeping. Makes a wonderful relaxation bath oil not to mention soaps. This holds extremely well in CP soap!

This is one of my very favorite Lavenders as it is a bit sweeter than the others. A true lavender scent and as with all Lavenders a MUST HAVE in any aromatherapists' repetoire. This one is true and of higher frequency than others I've purchased, very pleased with it.
