Description / Color / Consistency: A thick, dark brown liquid.
Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A middle note of medium aroma, Coffee Oil smells just like a fresh brewed pot of coffee.
Blends With: Allspice, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Vanilla.
Product Abstract:Coffea Arabica is the earliest cultivated species of the coffee tree and still the most widely grown. All fine specialty coffees come from Coffea Arabica, which produce approximately 70% of the world's coffee, and are dramatically superior in quality to the other principal commercial coffee species. All the coffee now grown in the Americas originated from one tree in a Dutch botanical garden. Among other possibilities, it is thought that the name 'coffee' comes from Caffa, an Abyssinian province. It can be burned like incense as a room deodorizer, and is known to be loaded with flavonoids and antioxidants. Because this oil has a slightly thick consistency, we would recommend placing the bottle in a very hot water bath, changing the water frequently, and once it is back to the liquid state, be sure to shake it gently before use.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: Incredible coffee scent, it is so strong that you really only need a very small amount to fragrance your body lotions, bath products, etc. It is quite thick so you do need to remove the dropper before using but it is still very easy to use. This eo is perfect for any coffee lover and coffee cake lover when mixed with some cinnamon eo and vanilla eo. Fantastic purchase I strongly recommend it.

Rating: I couldn't afford a big bottle of this , but really, really wish I could!!! This is so true coffee that u want to drink right out of the bottle! I save for just my coffee soap and it hasn't disappointed me yet. definitely a 5 star!!

Rating: Smells exactly like coffee! Dark, rich EO.
By:Cindy, Chatsworth, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 06-Dec-2012
Rating: Very dark, thick oil. Right out of the bottle the smell is very nice, it smells more like roasted coffee in a bag, than freshly brewed coffee. However it's not very good at diffusing. It can barely fill a room. Will need to experiment with it a bit more.

Rating: It really does smell just like a strong dark roast coffee however it did not hold up well in my CP soap. I can hardly smell it in my soap and I used quite a bit

Rating: Coffee essential oil is so invigorating to smell and wakes you up! Its worked well with other essential oils and I am so happy with this product. Thank you New Directions!!
Rating: This is an awesome oil for use in beauty products as it has skin toning capabilities and also smells so delicious. I would highly recommend a gift to the coffee lover in your life of a cellulite body lotion or perhaps some soap or even adding it to shampoo along with some vanilla fragrant oil. A little goes a long way and the EO does have a colour to it, so make certain not ti spill it on anything light coloured. It does not stain when used in other products you make.

Rating: Smells exactly like a nice dark roast. Gives a bit more depth and "realness" to the chocolate fragrance oil which i also purchased.
Rating: This smells exactly like strong black coffee. It is absolutely delightful in my face oil!

Rating: I was so impressed with this scent, it smells like a freshly brewed cup of coffee. I can't wait to try this in my candles. Worth every penny

Rating: This absolutely smells like fresh, strongly brewed, coffee. I was so completely inspired by this oil that I picked up coffee bean molds in various sizes in the hopes of decorating the top of my cp soap with coffee scented, soap, coffee beans. I think I'm going to have alot of fun with this one.
Rating: I used this at 1.4% in a thick hand cream. It hardly smells like coffee in the jar, and once it's rubbed onto the skin, nothing. No coffee scent at all. I removed this coffee essential oil from my wish list.
Maybe it works well in other products, but certainly not in the thick hand cream I just made :(((.

Rating: A little thick when trying to get it out with the orifice reducer, but when it does, it flows nicely. Love the smell of coffee, and this is spot on!

Rating: I loved this before I even bought it. No way coffee can be bad! And it isn't. It puts all fragrant oil blends of coffee to shame; they are so pale compared to the essential oil. Thick as tar, mind you so heat it or be prepared to wait. And wait. And wait. For. It. To. Come. Out. Good in soap and scrubs, I am figuring out what else I can stick it into (um, coffee cup anyone?) It is as rich a scent as the price is reasonably cheap.
By:Jessica, Brampton, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 13-Oct-2010
Rating: It doesn't get any better or more authentic than this one. It is well worth the price. I purchased a coffee fragrance oil after this one (to be able to offer a cheaper coffee scented product too), but I can't even bring myself to use it because it falls so short of this coffee oil's greatness.

Rating: Coffee Essential oil is expensive, but very much worth the cost.
I use this in my artisan soaps, scrubs, creams/lotions and melts - whatever I can! The oil is thick, I generally remove the plastic stopper and free pour into a teaspoon to avoid sitting for a half hour counting drops. Otherwise easy to use - dark color can bring on discoloration to a coffee color (so - this is a good thing for me!). I commonly combine this EO with espresso in my products; the combination holds the scent well and survives the curing period (I used 5ml for 2lbs of soap).
Customer Favorite, Personal Favorite.

Rating: Where has this been my whole life? A little thick to work with at first, but gently warming it helped make it much more manageable. Smells divine, and is lovely paired with cocoa butter.

Rating: understandable why it's expensive. Used in CP soaps with no scent (Use coffee FO oil instead) but fantastic in eye creams! helps reduce puffiness
By:Sarah, Halifax, Nova Scotia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 26-Dec-2013
Rating: The scent is amazing! I haven't found that it holds up very well in my M&P soaps on its own though. I use it with the Coffee Cake & Spice FO and a few otther coffee things to make a message bar that is selling as fast as I can make them!

Rating: It's like liquid awesomeness!!! Thank you NDA for bringing this into my life!!!
Rating: This smells exactly like fresh brewed coffee! I use it to "cleanse my nasal palate" so to speak, when smelling multiple EOs. Still don't know what I'm going to use it in, but it smells awesome!

Rating: Not sure you could find a scent more true to coffee than this! I'm excited to try this with vanilla in a milk based soap. Instead of a Tim's Double Double it'll be an Amy's Double Double.

Rating: I like the smell of this one out of the bottle, but haven't found a product I like it in yet. I also use it to "cleanse my palette" while working with other scents instead of pulling out the coffee beans.
By:Gwen, Burnaby, British Columbia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 03-May-2010
Rating: Really like this. Doesn't have the sweet coffee smell of a FO, but a more "real" black coffee. Used 7% in my soap (crock method) & it smells good, but think I may move it up to 9% to get more up front scent. May try it later as a lip balm at maybe 1% mixed with another foodie eo.
By:Terry, Toronto, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 31-Oct-2008
Rating: Nice stuff! Does smell just like coffee. I had to remove the dropper cap to get it out of the bottle, though. A little thick. I like blending it with the NDA cocoa absolute, or vanilla 10 fold, or sweet orange, or cinnamon, or anything else "foody."
By:Crystal, Port Moody, British Columbia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Apr-2008
Rating: A dreamy scent ! If one does not know what to do with it, just smell it and try not becoming addicted. I think of making a soap that Seven Cup would envy me. Many ideas of how to use it. And here again... the price is affordable.

Rating: Mmmmmm, smells just like morning! Ever seen the avertisement "The best part of waking up, is Folgers in your cup!"? Well, this is it! A great scent!
By:Miranda, Edmonton, Alberta Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Feb-2008
Rating: This coffee scent is very nice. It is strong and true and you only need a little bit to get a lot of scent. The only downside is that it is a PASTE not a liquid, so it is difficult to get out and some gets wasted in the process. It needs a different container, but other than that, highly recommended.
Rating: Works great in a lip balm with chocolate, vanilla, and a tiny hint of cinnamon. Starbucks, eat your heart out.

Rating: This is an amazing oil! My mind is full of ideas. I can't wait to mix it with my cocoa butter products to make a delicious mocha aroma. For now it is sitting on my desk where I can smell it all day long - yummm.

Rating: I'm not crazy about this oil. The smell is rather bitter, and it is VERY thick -mine is actually a paste and does not drip from the bottle.
Rating: Coffee essential oil doesn't get more true than this. If you like coffee, this is for you. In fact, just smelling makes me want some coffee. In the polo black fragrance (ralph lauren) coffee is mixed with mango. You don't have to smell it to know it's delightful. Note: mango is a synthetic scent. You get what you pay for with this one.

Rating: Wonderful oil, I use this to "clear the palatte" so to speak when dealing with many different essential oils. You can also use fresh ground beans for the same effect, but COFFEE ABSOLUTE or Coffea arabica is FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. It's great to use with Balms, Candles, Ointments, Lip Balms, Skin Cream, and Soaps. Good quality.
