Product Abstract: Indiginous to Madagascar, the Ravensara tree is a member of the Lauraceae (laurel) family. It is 20 meters tall with several buttress roots at the base, with a reddish bark that is very aromatic, and small green elliptical leaves. Its name in Malagasy means 'aromatic leaf'. It should be noted that Ravintsera (cinnamonum camphora) is not from the same species as Ravensara, and is not the same Essential Oil.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping), be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: Something happened , I reordered this very exotic EO but when I got it , it didn't really smelled like Ravensara that I got few months earlier. It was more like basil so I inquired and I got one response at first and then nothing . Few months have passed and Ravensara has gone out of stock for months now and I had no communication back. I really don't want to think more about it but having said that this EO is spectacular if you can get it.

Rating: This stuff is AMAZING!! It kills cold sores dead in their tracks!!! I've never seen anything like it before. One of my customers wanted me to make something for him for a cold sore that had already developed and I made up a lip balm with some of this in it and it stopped the cold sore completely. Everyone should have it. Plus the spicy black licorice scent is kinda cool too :)

Rating: I had read that this E.O. was useful in treating viral problems like cold sores. I can attest that if it is applied ( I did it neat) as soon as the tingling begins this E.O. stops this eruption.
The scent is not unpleasant also.

Rating: This brand of Ravensara smells softer than I am used to using in my formulations but the proof is in how well it works . I use it quite often in shingles blends and will have to reserve judgement until I get some feedback from my clients

Rating: I have smelled other brands of Ravensara and I was a bit supprised when I recived this one, as it does not smell the same, I am not quite as fond of the smell of this one, however as an aromatherpist I know that an essential oil doesn't need to smell nice to have healing properties. It is a good oil to use during cold/flue season.
