Product Abstract: A member of the orange family, mandarin trees are smaller, with smaller leaves and fruits. Mandarin Essential Oil is commonly used in soaps, cosmetics, perfumes and men's colognes. It also has many applications in the flavoring industry. Native to southern China, its name comes from its being a traditional gift to Chinese mandarins. It was brought to Europe in 1805, and arrived in North America forty years later.
Cautions: This essential oil may contain phototoxic properties and it is suggested to avoid exposure to the sun after application to the skin. Dilute well before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: Less strong than the Orange sweet or Blood Orange EO but definitely more spicy. On its own it's a interesting smell that I enjoy very much, but mixed with blood orange EO just makes it even more interesting. I won't be able to live without the Mandarin anymore.

Rating: I bought this for the anthranilic acid (sp?) in this which is supposed to induce sedation (help with sleep). Apparently it is only found in green mandarin. This EO smells like spring orange flower blossoms to me in the bottle. It does come out as a green citrus scent (not pure citrus, like orange). I find it intoxicating in the bottle, and calming diffused. However, I have mixed it with tangerine (which smells more citrus) to get a better smell for my night blend (along with chamomile, sweet marjoram, bulgarian lavender).

Rating: I love the subtlety of this Mandarin oil! I have come across its use in several "calming" oil blends for animals, ( dogs and horses) the sedative effect coming from the anthranilic acid component. Apparently it is the only essential oil to contain anthranilic acid. One reference notes to use only Green Mandarin ( Citrus reticulata,) and not the cheaper Red Mandarin as the latter does not contain anthranilic acid but may often be passed off as the former. I have checked the GC analysis and the composition charts for the NDA mandarin and would love to know the % anthranilic content of the NDA oil!

Rating: Doesn't hold up in cp soap. Fades very quickly.
Rating: Well it's mandarin. I used to buy mandarins from a supermarket just to scent my room but with this, I can just use this and give it a fresh citrus aroma.

Rating: This oil makes me salivate every time I smell it. It has an amazing sweet citrus scent that isn't too sweet or strong. It's definitely one of my favorite orange EO. Love it and it has a permanent spot in my collection.
