Botanical Name: Rosa damascene

Plant Part: Flowers

Extraction Method: Solvent Extraction

Description: The rose is perhaps the world’s best known flower, stunning and exotic in both visual appearance and fragrance.

Color: Golden to amber

Common Uses: Rose Bulgarian Absolute is a very common oil in perfumery and aromatics industries. Aromatherapists and holistic practitioners use it in their practices. A few drops can be used in creams or undiluted to make a product even more emollient and fragrant.

Consistency: Viscous

Note: Middle

Strength of Aroma: Strong

Blends well with: Rose Bulgarian Absolute generally blends well with all oils, though it works particularly well with Bergamot, Chamomile German, Chamomile Roman, Clary Sage, Geranium, Melissa, Rosewood, Sandalwood, and Ylang-ylang.

Aromatic Scent: Rose Bulgarian Absolute has a very complex, sweet floral scent. Its reputation of being a essential ingredient in perfumes is well deserved.

History: Bulgaria has over a 300 year tradition in essential rose oil distillation. Approximately 4000 kilograms of petals are required to produce 1 kilogram of pure rose oil. Its exotic nature and value were appreciated in ancient times by the Greeks, Chinese, Indians, Persians and Romans.

Cautions: It is important to note that all absolutes are extremely concentrated by nature. They should not be evaluated in this state unless you are accustomed to the undiluted fragrance. For those trying Absolutes for the first time, we strongly recommend they be evaluated in dilution. Otherwise, the complexity of the fragrance - particularly the rare and exotic notes - becomes lost.

Lovely scent even at 3% dilution. Just several drops of Rose Bulgarian in clay mask, or in the bath makes it so delicious.

From other reviews, I assumed the rose would be stronger. I must admit I am disappointed. It smells like rose petals taste (if you've ever tasted them, this will make sense). A bit bitter or astringent, but it captures the essence. Next time, I will get the Rose Maroc 100% absolute, since it's under $20 and an insanely good price. If this were more potent, it would have a higher rating.

Such a pretty, soft, rose scent! I was a little worried about the strength of a dilution, but it is perfect.

Nice light rose scent. Looking forward to trying the other rose scents as well. The jojoba oil with it makes this rose a great perfume to perk you up in the middle of the day!

This product was a tough one for me too buy because of the price. Upon purchase, however, it turned out to be such a good strong scent that I find it quite reasonable after all. I've used it in soap as well as creams and lotions. I don't find that rose is as popular with customers as I expected.

Nice rose scent, though it smells a bit overripe when compared next to the rose Moldovian.

I am amazed at the strength of the scent you get with a 3% dilution! What can I say? I love roses, and the misconception that this old-fashioned rose will be like an old lady's perfume (no offense), is completely out the window! Instead it is a wonderful and complex blend of sweet florals, with a slightly spicy and waxy undertone. I only wish the roses in my garden would smell as lovely as this!

I can't believe I spend so little & get such great product! Even it is 3%, but the smell still there. I add 2 drops Rose Bulgarian in pink clay mask, so luxurious.
