FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Gentle Chemical Exfoliant: As a mild Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Lactic Acid is believed to encourage skin exfoliation by promoting cell turnover. This minimizes the look of discoloration, uneven texture, and surface roughness to reveal smoother, more refined skin.

Moisture-Retaining Performance: Lactic Acid replenishes the skin through humectant properties that attract and retain moisture. Unlike stronger exfoliants, the dual action in Lactic Acid makes it a suitable ingredient for daily-use products including lotions, creams, and body care.

Highly Effective Stabilizer: With its natural acidity, Lactic Acid doubles as a reliable pH adjuster and stabilizer in emulsions. It creates an optimal environment for active ingredients, especially in cleansers, serums, shampoos, and conditioners.

Hair & Scalp Benefits: Lactic Acid’s moisturizing and regenerative properties also gently exfoliate the scalp while improving the look and feel of strands.

DESCRIPTION

A favorite in modern cosmetic and skin care formulations, Lactic Acid is a widely used AHA due to its gentle yet effective exfoliating properties. It is produced through fermenting plant-derived sugars, resulting in a clear, white, syrupy liquid that is odorless and versatile.

As a natural chemical exfoliant, Lactic Acid is believed to accelerate cell turnover, which promotes a smoother, more even skin tone. Its mildness differentiates it from stronger acids like glycolic acid, allowing formulators to target dullness, discoloration, and rough texture without excessive irritation. Since it also has humectant properties, Lactic Acid helps attracts moisture, leaving skin feeling soft and hydrated instead of tight and depleted.

Hair care formulations also benefit from Lactic Acid’s versatility because it adjusts pH, supports cuticle smoothing, and provides light exfoliation to the scalp. From shampoos and conditioners to masks and leave-in treatments, Lactic Acid can enhance softness, shine, and overall hair manageability.

Fully water-soluble and easy to work with, this AHA integrates effortlessly into serums, exfoliating toners, lotions, brightening treatments, shampoos, conditioners, and scalp treatments.

DIRECTIONS AND SUGGESTED USAGE

  • Brightening Face Care:1–10% Lactic Acid is suitable in daytime and nighttime products including serums, exfoliating solutions, gel-based treatments, facial cleansers, and creams. Add during the cool-down phase (below 40–50°C / 104–122°F) to preserve activity and prevent degradation.

  • Smoothing Body Products: For full body care such as lotions, creams, body washes, and targeted smoothing treatments, incorporate 1–10% depending on the desired exfoliating or brightening effect. Add during cool-down for optimal stability.

  • Hair & Scalp Treatments: For shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, leave-in treatments, scalp serums, exfoliating scalp gels, and anti-frizz or smoothing formulas, use 0.5–5% Lactic Acid. Incorporate during the cool-down step to maintain performance and ensure pH balance.

  • Water-Based & Emulsions: Lactic Acid is fully water-soluble and blends easily into emulsions. Add it to the water phase after emulsification or during cool-down. Avoid temperatures above 50°C (122°F) to protect its integrity.
