Extracted from the Cacao beans contained in the pods of the Cacao Tree, Cocoa Butter is a rich natural fat, possessing an abundance of vitamins, antioxidants, polyphenols, and essential fatty acids. With its luxurious texture and delectable chocolaty scent, Cocoa Butter is a staple in skin care and hair care formulations. When applied topically, this exotic emollient melts upon contact with the skin and works to naturally replenish dry and sensitive skin types, while creating a protective barrier from environmental elements. It is equally beneficial for improving the texture of hair, making it softer and more manageable. Cocoa Butter is also of significant commercial importance in foods, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetic applications.
This refined butter is obtained from the fruit of the Cocoa tree and can be used in the same manner as the unrefined Cocoa Butter. From its beans, the butter is extracted and further processed and refined to obtain a white, scent-free butter. Cocoa Butter Ultra Refined does not possess the same chocolatey scent that is characteristic of its unrefined counterpart, making it ideal for blending into cosmetic formulations. The ultra refined variety also blends seamlessly into formulas with floral or "designer" fragrances. Solid and hard at room temperature, it will melt on contact with the skin.
Recommended Usage:
• Lotions & Creams: 2 - 20 %
• Balms: 5 - 100 %
• Bar Soaps: 5 - 20 %
• Hair Conditioners: 1 - 10 %
When adding butters to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture is soft enough to be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound. As with most raw materials, results may vary, so we strongly recommend small, lab scale batches prior to any commercial manufacturing.
Storage: Overheating this product will impact its delicate fragrance. Please melt at as low a heat as possible while stirring gently and use as soon as it is melted.
Shelf Life: Slow to go rancid, when the oil is kept closed at a temperature below 18°C and kept away from light, the shelf life will be up to 24 months from the date of manufacture. Refrigeration is recommended.
