November 2025

The November 2025 Market Report forecasts the growing conditions, market demand, and overall climate of the month’s most in-demand aromatic products. Featuring mostly organic oils, prolonged droughts are a common theme affecting production. Supply shortages threaten market conditions for Tansy Blue Essential Oil, while Basil Organic Essential Oil has a slightly smaller crop size due to periods of heavier rain fall. The off-season for Lime Organic Essential Oil is approaching, which may cause shortages in the market despite a 5% increase in harvest yield. Since demand has increased for Origanum Organic Essential Oil, contractual volumes were met but non-contract quantities were limited. As our only carrier oil featured this month, Prickly Pear Organic Carrier Oil is projected to experience sharp supply shortages due to a decrease in oil availability.

Steam distilled from the Tanacetum annuum L. leaves and flowers, Tansy Blue Essential Oil is harvested in Morocco annually between May and July. This plant thrives in moderate to hot climates with full sun and requires well-drained soil to prevent root rot. However, Morocco has experienced prolonged drought conditions for the past five years, resulting in a notably short crop this season. Although yields remain stable, the overall availability of Tanacetum annuum L. is limited due to smaller plant growth and restricted moisture levels. The persistent lack of rain continues to stress the plants, which reduces the oil content and distillation volume.

As a result, the market is facing supply shortages, and prices for Tansy Blue Essential Oil are likely to remain firm throughout the next quarter. While demand is steady, buyers are encouraged to secure bulk volumes early in the season to avoid potential delays or availability constraints.

Organic Basil Essential Oil is steam distilled from organically grown Ocimum basilicum L. leaves in India. Harvested between October and November, Organic Basil grows best in warm, humid climates ranging between 25 °C and 30 °C, as well as in well-drained loamy soil that is rich in organic matter.

This year’s growing season has been generally favorable, though the overall crop size has slightly decreased due to damage caused by occasional heavy rains. Despite this, the yield per hectare remains stable, with no significant percentage change. The combination of steady demand and weather-related crop loss is tightening market conditions for Organic Basil Oil, with shortages anticipated in the next quarter. Formulators and bulk purchasers are advised to plan their procurement early, as supply chain constraints may affect short-term availability.

Harvested from April to June annually, Lime Organic Essential Oil is cold pressed from the fruit peels of organic Citrus aurantifolia grown in Sri Lanka’s dry zone. This citrus fruit requires warm, sunny, and sheltered conditions, as well as loose, well-draining sandy or loam soils with a neutral to slightly acidic pH.

Interestingly, drought conditions have been favorable for Organic Lime Oil production, as hot and dry environments promote fruit maturity and oil concentration. This year’s harvest yielded approximately 14 metric tons, which is a 5% increase compared to 2024’s 13.5 metric tons. While production has been strong, the coming quarter coincides with the off-season when supplies typically tighten. As a result, shortages may occur before the next harvest cycle begins. Market demand for Lime Organic Essential Oil remains steady with slight upward momentum, suggesting that buyers seeking bulk quantities should secure their requirements early to avoid price fluctuations during the off-season.

Origanum Organic Essential Oil is steam distilled from the Origanum vulgare herb that is organically grown in Hungary and harvested between June and July. This herb prefers well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, as well as warm, dry, and sunny weather conditions. The dry and sunny summer in Hungary created the ideal conditions for a stable, consistent harvest yield of high quality.

However, the market has seen increasing demand for Origanum Organic Essential Oil. While contractual volumes were fulfilled without shortages, some ad-hoc orders went unserved due to limited non-contract supply. As the year closes, the market is steady but tightening, and it is recommended that formulators and distributors finalize their volume contracts before the end of the year.

Also known as cactus seed oil, Prickly Pear Organic Carrier Oil is cold pressed from organically grown Opuntia ficus indica seeds that are harvested in Morocco between July and September. The cactus is highly drought-tolerant, requiring hot, dry climates and well-drained soil to prevent moisture stress.

Similar to Tansy Blue Essential Oil, Morocco’s ongoing five-year drought has continued to challenge production. This year’s crop size is short, and although the yield per plant remains stable, the total volume of seeds available for pressing is significantly reduced. With limited fruiting and fewer mature pads, oil availability has decreased compared to last year.

Consequently, supply shortages for Organic Prickly Pear Oil are expected in the coming quarter, especially for larger-volume orders. Market demand remains firm, so buyers are advised to secure contracts early as prices may remain elevated due to constrained availability.
