In Peru, the season of harvest for Chia Seeds is between July and September. This year's crop growing conditions and crop yield are similar to that of the growing conditions of 2016. There is growing demand for the product with new markets opening in Asia. Based on higher demand, raw material prices are increasing for Chia.
Sacha Inchi is harvested all year round; however, there is less harvesting during the rainy season, which is between December and April. The Sacha Inchi yield was negatively impacted by coastal El NiƱo, which affected crops in Q1 and Q2 2017, but despite this setback, there has been an overall increase in harvest yield based on new crops that were planted in 2016. There is growing demand for the product with new markets opening in Asia. Sacha Inchi prices are stable.
In China, the harvest season for Litsea Cubeba is from the end of July to the beginning of September. Last year's harvest yielded a total quantity of approximately 700 mts; however, this year saw a harvest yield that was reduced by 30%, thus the prices are currently firmer and higher. The market demand is becoming stronger.
Due to advances in technology, the harvest of Silk is available all year round. The monthly production is 1-3 MT. The projected harvest yield for Silk Amino Acids is similar to that of last year. The Silk Powder yield is projected to be slightly higher than last year. There is high demand for Cosmetic and Food uses. Silk Amino Acids will be well-developed in the field of food and medicine.
