July 2025
The July 2025 Market Report provides monthly updates on current harvesting conditions, crop health, and market trends for key essential oils and carrier oils. Rosemary Essential Oil – Ct Cineole (Hungary) is experiencing a healthful growing and harvesting season, although this year’s yield is 10% smaller, and Tunisian Rosemary Essential Oil is also experiencing a 25% decrease in yield. While the market conditions for Niaouli Essential Oil are stable, environmental distress threatens the sustainability of the Melaleuca quinquenervia. As the two carrier oils featured this month, the crop yield and market conditions for Babassu Organic Refined Oil remain stable, while Black Cumin Seed Oil is experiencing an increase in crop yield and market favorability.

The Hungarian variety of Rosemary Essential Oil is known for being a rarity, since Rosemary does not typically grow outside the Mediterranean. Stimulating and herbaceous in aroma, Hungarian Rosemary Oil is steam distilled from the Rosmarinus officinalis crop that is harvested singularly between May to July, although older crops can be harvested twice. Rosemary is frost-resistant and thrives in southern calcareous soils, preferring bright, dry conditions with minimal rainfall.
The 2025 growing season has been rather favorable in Hungary, though the overall crop size is smaller than last year. This reduced yield, estimated to be down by more than 10%, may slightly tighten the supply depending on the volume secured through pre-harvest contracts. Demand remains stable, but pricing inquiries for bulk orders are best made before the harvest season begins, as supply tends to be locked in early. Market conditions for Hungarian Rosemary Essential Oil are relatively steady, with no immediate shortages expected thanks to reliable contracted sources.
Cultivated on Madagascar’s east coast, Niaouli Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves and twigs of the Melaleuca quinquenervia, which is a close relative to Tea Tree. This crop is harvested multiple times throughout the year, although cyclones disrupt collection between January and February. Niaouli grows best in sandy soil under consistently rainy conditions. Despite its adaptability, the plant continues to face increasing pressure from environmental degradation. Bushfires, ongoing droughts, and local use of the plant as firewood have led to a 5% decrease in yield compared to last year. The long-term sustainability of Melaleuca quinquenervia remains a concern, though no immediate shortages are anticipated in the next quarter.
Market demand for Niaouli Essential Oil is currently steady, but the overall market environment is cautious due to the declining wild population and ecological threats. Bulk pricing should ideally be discussed at least three months in advance.
This variety of Rosemary Essential Oil is steam distilled from the Rosmarinus officinalis herb grown in the Kasserine region of Tunisia. This crop is harvested annually between May and June and thrives on the Mediterranean coast due to its well-drained, loamy, slightly acidic soils and winter rainfalls. However, this year’s Rosemary crop in Tunisia has not met expectations since there are notably fewer plants available for harvest. Yield has decreased by approximately 25% compared to last year, and shortages are expected over the next quarter.
Demand for Rosemary Essential Oil – ct Cineole (Tunisia) remains strong, placing additional pressure on supply. Buyers are advised to engage in pricing discussions by the end of May to ensure availability. Market conditions are tighter than usual, and higher prices may result from reduced crop volume.
Rich in antioxidants and cleansing properties, Black Cumin Seed Carrier Oil is cold pressed from the Nigella sativa seeds that are grown in Turkey and are harvested between August and September. This warming and stimulating spice requires well-drained sandy loam or light clay soils rich in organic matter and a warm, semi-arid climate for optimal growth.
This year’s crop yield is on a positive trajectory, supported by steady rainfall, stable temperatures, and improved farming practices. The harvest yield is projected to be 8–10% higher than in 2024, thanks to high-quality seed varieties and a favorable growing season. While supply is strong, increasing demand for seeds may tighten availability in that segment of the market. No major shortages are anticipated, and the market is trending upward in both demand and availability. Early September is the best time to secure bulk pricing for this carrier oil, though pre-harvest discussions in late August are also recommended.
Originating in the southern regions of Brazil, Babassu Organic Carrier Oil is cold pressed from the kernels of the Orbignya oleifera palm grown in the Netherlands and is refined for cosmetic formulations. Wild harvested throughout the year, the Babassu palm grows best in areas receiving 1500 to 2500 mm of rainfall annually and experiences minimal seasonal fluctuations.
Due to its resilience and the consistent rainforest climate of its native regions, this year’s yield remains consistent with previous years, with no changes in harvesting conditions. The market demand for Babassu Organic Oil is also stable, and no shortages are expected in the coming months. Since this is a wild-harvested product, availability is less affected by typical agricultural cycles, allowing bulk orders to be placed at any time of year without risk of seasonal disruption.
