Product Abstract: The birch tree is native to North America and grows up to 15-20 meters in height. It has slender branches, silver-white bark broken into scales and light green oval leaves. The well-known scent of Russian leather is due to the use of Birch Tar in its processing. It imparts durability to leather, and bookbinders have long used it because books bound in Russia leather are not liable to become moldy.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping), be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: I love this essential oil! It blends well with other woodsy essential oils and not much is needed to get great results. Oddly enough, there I can sell a hint of bacon in this EO. So it is definitely a must have to add to any products for men!

Rating: This powerful EO certainly smells like campfire. Even in a 1% dilution, the scent is very strong. Use very sparingly!

Rating: Campfire, oh yes. Definitely. Use more than 1 drop and you will think it had been in your living room. Keep this to a minimum to give some great undertones to perfumes or more manly scents -blend musks, tea smells, leather scents, dry camphorous stuff, maybe certain florals (not citrus or foody, otherwise think burned food on stove -ick). Suddenly the pine-y scent that people love to use to represent outdoor forest scents can take on a whole new richness. JUST ONE DROP, mind you.
Rating: 6 stars. It really does smell like a campfire/ childhood at camp, haha! Funny story: I almost fell down the stairs while smelling it because it's THAT good.

Rating: Great but very strong I added one drop to a small batch of aftershave lotion and it was quite overpowering next time I will make a larger batch to dilute it a bit more

Rating: this and the cade oil are rectified--i.e., toasted--and they do have a strong, phenolic 'campfire' smell from the pyrazines created during the process. it will strongly remind some people of housefires, railroad ties treated with creosote, and coal tar soap. not for everyone, but those who love it LOVE it. its genius use in perfumery is to 'dirty up' some smell that is too sweet and pretty, but we're talking 1 drop or less. for example, a lot of jasmine and ylang and 1 drop of cade makes a mysterious stern dark floral. cade and birch tar feature in Chanel's cuir de russie and Lush's breath of god.
Rating: I only recently received my product order which included birch tar. The scent is exactly like the description: it does smell like tar, charred wood and smoke and really does smell like a campfire. Right on all counts.
And since I haven't gone camping for the summer as yet, I can enjoy the smell on my Toronto balcony, at night, after I've done the bbq.
I'm definitely going to add a few drops to my new batch of bug repellent spray for my friends and family. I'm still wondering how the smell of a campfire can be replicated in an EO. Amazing. I love it.

Rating: This smells like chocolate and vanilla to me so it's all delicious but I hoped that I would see some therapeutic results but nothing yet.

Rating: top quality as always from NDA, smells to me less like a campfire and exactly like smoked sausage.
Rating: Wow! What a remarkable oil! It smells just like a campfire. I think it would be a great addition to a woodsy soap.
