MARKET REPORT APRIL 2018
The following report contains updates on the current trends in production and availability of the most in-demand Essential Oils, Carrier Oils, and Raw Materials sourced from around the globe.
In China, Cedarwood is harvested in all four seasons. This year's projected harvest yield is estimated to be almost the same as last year's crop. There has been regular demand for the product in current years and the prices have remained stable without any obvious changes.
In Texas, there is year-round wild harvest of Cedarwood, though it is subject to weather conditions. Due to current favorable growing conditions and the resultant aggressive and invasive growth of this crop, local ranchers must harvest to maintain the quality of their pastures. The projected harvest yield depends on the cost paid for the raw product – a higher price facilitates wood harvest – as well as the landowner's ability to pay for the clearing service. The trees replenish their resources rapidly. There is high demand for this crop and the market conditions are excellent.
In China, Eucalyptus Globulus is harvested from October to February. The current growing conditions appear to be normal, without an excess of rain or aridity. At this time, it is difficult to project what the harvest yield will be; however, it is generally 1%. The demand for this product is approximately 10 000.00 Mt/year, including the demand for Eucalyptol. With the growing season having already come to an end, the market conditions are strong, and the smaller quantity of the product in the market suggests that prices are unlikely to decrease by much.
In India, Castor is harvested between the months of December and February. The current climatic conditions are favorable for the growth of this crop, which is naturally-occurring in the growing region. This year, the average harvest yield is higher and, compared to last year, the demand for Organic Castor has also increased slightly. The current market conditions are good.
