Botanical Name: Ravensara aromatica

Origin: Madagascar

Description: The Ravensara tree is 20 meters high with several buttress roots at the base. It has a reddish bark that is very aromatic, and small green elliptical leaves.

Color: Colorless to pale yellow liquid.

Common Uses: Ravensara Essential Oil may assist with respiratory problems, colds and flu, canker and cold sores, cuts, wounds, burns, anti-biotic, liver, lung infections, flu, sinusitis, viral hepatitis, cholera, infectious mononucleosis, insomnia, and muscle fatigue. It is also viewed as an excellent treatment for athlete's foot.

Blends well with: Clove Bud, Eucalyptus, Lavender and Rosemary.

Aromatic Scent: Ravensara Essential Oil has a medicinal scent - camphorous with fruity notes.

History: Ravensara was used by the native Americans to prevent scurvy and the needles were used to stuff mattresses and to repel lice and fleas. The ancient Egyptians used the pine kernels in their cooking.

Cautions: Do not take internally. Avoid use when pregnant.

This stuff is AMAZING!! It kills cold sores dead in their tracks!!! I've never seen anything like it before. One of my customers wanted me to make something for him for a cold sore that had already developed and I made up a lip balm with some of this in it and it stopped the cold sore completely. Everyone should have it. Plus the spicy black licorice scent is kinda cool too :)

I purchased a sample size of this EO and wish I would have purchased a bigger format. I love the scent of this EO and its therapeutic properties. Mixed with Lavender 40/42 and Eucalyptus......what a great combination!

I had read that this E.O. was useful in treating viral problems like cold sores. I can attest that if it is applied ( I did it neat) as soon as the tingling begins this E.O. stops this eruption. Absolutely fantastic! The scent is not unpleasant also.

This brand of Ravensara smells softer than I am used to using in my formulations but the proof is in how well it works . I use it quite often in shingles blends and will have to reserve judgement until I get some feedback from my clients

I have smelled other brands of Ravensara and I was a bit supprised when I recived this one, as it does not smell the same, I am not quite as fond of the smell of this one, however as an aromatherpist I know that an essential oil doesn't need to smell nice to have healing properties. It is a good oil to use during cold/flue season.

A licorice like smelling oil extremely useful for stress reduction, detoxification and digestion complaints. It has powerful tonic and anti-viral properties and will definitely help with anxiety and nervous fatigue. A very good, helpful oil to use to fight bacterial and viral infections. A must have oil.
