Botanical Name: Elaeis guineensis

Extraction Method: Cold Pressed

Description: There is often a lot of confusion over Palm Kernel Oil and Palm Oil. Both can be used interchangeably, but there are differences. Palm Oil is derived from the palm fruit whereas Palm Kernel comes from the kernel of the fruit. Palm Oil is rich in palmitic acid, vitamin E, vitamin K and magnesium and, is considered to be a natural source of anti-oxidant. It works great in soap making. This variety of Palm Oil is Refined, Bleached and Deodorized.

In response to the growing concerns over the deforestation of the rainforests and non-regulated expansion, producers and users of Palm oil formed the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The goal of this group is to develop a strategy, guideline, and even an inspection and certification system for Palm Plantations throughout the world. The objective is to be able to show that these certified Palm Plantations are in fact sustainable and are not practicing deforestation to expand their productivity. Our Palm oil come from approved suppliers of Palm Oil products and are members of this RSPO group.

Color: Clear when liquid, white to slightly pale yellow when solid.

Aromatic Description: Palm Carrier Oil has very little scent characteristic of most carrier oils.

Common Uses: Our Palm Carrier Oil is refined and is almost exclusively used by cold process soap manufacturers.

Consistency: Semi-solid at room temperature requiring gentle heating for production.

Absorption: Palm Carrier Oil will leave an oily feeling on your skin if applied neat.

Shelf Life: Users can expect a shelf life of 6 months to 1 year with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended.

This oil is a MUST HAVE in my cp soap, it is actually very easy to get this product out of the container as it is very smooth. I use it with cocnut oil and olive oil and it makes a nice white bar. Thanks for such a great product!

This is a "Must Have" for CP soap. I've noticed some people have a hard time with the container the oil comes in. I just put mine in hot water in the kitchen sink for about 10 minutes, let it soften and liquify and then pour it out into a different container (I use a bucket with lid and once it hardens again you can just scoop it out).

This is a great quality palm oil at a really good price. It will scoop out nicely if you put it someplace warm for a few hours or so before using. It is pretty hard straight from the fridge.

NDA's Palm oil is darker (much more yellow) and have an oily smell compared to the palm oil I'm used to buy. It's pricier too. It's not bad quality, but I prefer a less yellow oil at a better price.

Perfect for soap making. Makes a beautiful, hard and great lathering soap. Price is excellent as well. Use a large cooking spoon with a long handle and you will easily be able to remove the product from the jar.

Excellent high quality oil. Excellent results in hard soaps and liquid soaps. Many of our clients have expressed a concern over allergic reactions to coconut oil, and we therefore elected to make all our soap products with Palm Kernel oil with wonderful results.

I love using this oils in soapmaking! It's a good replacement for coconut oil. I purchased 4kg of Palm Kernel oil. Even though it was packaged in the wide-mouth container, it's still not wide enough and it's difficult to scoop out such hard oil.

A good product but unfortunate that New Directions packages their hard oils in containers that are meant for liquid oils. It makes using the product in small amounts extremely difficult. I'm now stuck heating the product so I can pour it - and then transferring it to a more efficient container. If these hard at room temperature oils were packaged in containers similar to what margarine is packaged in it would make a lot more sense.

We sell to many different customers, in many different regions. In some regions, these products remain liquid, and require liquid containers. Because this product easily liquefies in a hot water bath, we have elected to maintain this style of packaging. To date, we have not had any customers voice similar concerns. We regret the inconvenience nonetheless.
