Olive Butter

Olive Butter is obtained from cold pressed olives and collected when the oil is refined to remove the unsaponifiables. Olive Butter has a smooth, creamy texture although on occasions may be grainy due to the manufacturing process.

Common Uses: This butter has excellent emollient and antioxidant properties making it a natural moisturizer. If sensitivity to Shea Butter develops, Olive butter is a good substitute as it exhibits many of the same characteristics. With many natural essential fatty acids and unsaponifiables, this butter is an essential ingredient for anti-aging products.
Olive Butter exhibits good spread-ability on the skin, making it ideal as a massage butter or body balm, and it can be added to soap, creams, lotions, lip balms, body butters, hair pomades, bath bombs and more.

Recommended Usage:
• Lotions & Creams: 2 - 5 %
• Balms: 5 – 10 %
• Bar Soaps: 2 - 6 %
• Hair Conditioners: 3 – 5 %

When adding butters to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture can be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound. As with most raw materials, results may vary, so we strongly recommend small, lab scale batches prior to any commercial manufacturing.

Shelf Life: This butter should be stored in a cool dark place and has a shelf-life of approximately 1 - 2 years when stored properly.

Well the appearance of the olive butter was grainy. One look and I was apprehensive as it looked a lot like a clump of wet jojoba beads. But it melted quickly on my skin and there was no greasiness after I rubbed it in. The scent is almost nil. Good product.

This is an amazing butter! I made a foot cream with this olive butter for my Mom who has foot problems. I added peppermint and calendula essential oils to it and my Mom can't stop saying great things about how smooth and nice her feet are now since using it. I definately recommend this to everybody.

What a wonderful greenish smooth butter ! Inspiring for making "something special". Melts in the skin and the very light clean smell could not be a problem for any use. This is the first product from New Directions that i have been disapointed in. The olive butter is very, very grainy (so much so, that it almost feels exfoliating) and i feel that the description is misleading. The grains take a long time to melt into the skin...i would NOT say its "ideal for massage butter" and i can't see how it would be good in lip balms being so grainy. i think in the description area they should mention the graininess, because i know i would not have purchased it knowing it may be grainy.

Olive Butter is not what we would consider grainy. While we respect each customer's opinion, this is the first complaint on this product despite hundreds of sales throughout North America.
