Description: Also known as Black Spruce, this tree is a slow-growing, small upright evergreen coniferous tree with compact, drooping branches with upturned tips.
Color: Dark greenish brown resin.
Common Uses: Black Hemlock Absolute is reputed to be useful in formulations for bronchitis, coughs, colds and respiratory weakness. It is considered to have anti-inflammatory properties and works great in sports and pain relief balms. Black Hemlock Absolute can be also used in formulations for insect repellent and also in perfumery.

Blends well with: Citronella, Clary Sage, Coriander, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Juniper, Lavender, Myrrh, Rosemary, Spikenard and Tea Tree.
Aromatic Scent: Black Hemlock Absolute has a fresh balsamic aroma with hints of pine notes.
History: Black Hemlock Oil has long been used by Native Americans to make a poultice for wounds and sores. The twigs were also used in steam baths to induce sweating for relief of rheumatism, colds and coughs.
Cautions: This absolute should be avoided during pregnancy. At low doses it appears to be non-toxic, non-irritating, and non-sensitizing. It is important to note that all absolutes are extremely concentrated by nature. They should not be evaluated in this state unless you are accustomed to the undiluted fragrance. For those trying Absolutes for the first time, we strongly recommend they be evaluated in dilution. Otherwise, the complexity of the fragrance - particularly the rare and exotic notes - becomes lost.
