Description: The Frankincense tree originates from the Middle East, and is small with abundant pinnacle leaves. The flowers are white or pale pink. Frankincense resin begins as a milky-white sticky liquid that flows from the trunk of the tree when it's cut, healing the wound. The resin is then distilled producing the precious oil.
Color: Colorless to pale yellow clear liquid.
Common Uses: The therapeutic properties of Frankincense Essential Oil include use as an antiseptic, astringent, carminative, digestive, diuretic, sedative, tonic and expectorant. Frankincense is said to help rejuvenate the aging skin, and is effective with bacterial and fungal infections. The anti-inflammatory property of this oil is reputed to be an effective treatment for joint pain and arthritis. Frankincense can also be used as an insect repellent and is also widely used in cosmetics and soap manufacturing. It has a grounding aroma, and often used in meditation.

History: Frankincense is widely known since biblical times. Frankincense is from the French word 'Franc' meaning 'luxuriant' or it could be 'real incense'. Also known as Olibanum, Frankincense was used by the ancient Egyptians in their religious ceremonies and was used as incense by the Greeks and the Romans.
Cautions: Frankincense Essential Oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing. Avoid use during pregnancy.

I was a bit apprehensive with regards to other reviews but I can say having used both Frankincense varieties here that this is a good and useful one and for the price is unbeatable. It's just a little bit softer and less exotic than the Carteri Egyptian version but still good enough for everyday use and it has an unmistakeable Frankincense feel.

They are very different and I really don't like this one: it has an unpleasant medicinal, cloying quality, to me, compared to the gorgeously clean, austere spice of the Egyptian variety. Ah well. I found the scent very pleasant and have added this EO in my diffuser mixed with bergamot, sage and and the orange ginger fragrance (all from ND). The scent was lovely and great for meditation.

I find the frereana sweeter than the Egyptian, but the difference in cost is too good to pass up. I find frankincense to be one of my more useful EOs. It's good for rubbing on the chest and sinuses as an expectorant, putting in a nebulizer to help with sleep, rubbing between the palms and inhaling in times of anger, sadness, anxiety or grief... it seems to have the ability to dissolve negative energy, be it with mental or physical health.

This is one precious oil indeed ! Its both wispy and mysterious, it feels like a long corridor ; at first you notice the wall solvent odor but with wooden tones, much like the texture of the smell of fir. Then you find out that its just more than that, its variety of tone is amazing. This is an exeptional oil in terms of quality, very thin, very volatile ! Again pleasantly surprised by the quality of products from india, recommended strongly for skin applications, does not overpower other oils. If I was to describe this one in one word it would be : Pure Light.
