Cocoa Butter (also known as cacao butter) is the natural cream colored vegetable fat extracted from cocoa beans during the process of separating the powder and liquor from the bean. 70% of the world's production of Cocoa Butter is produced in the West African nations Nigeria, Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire.
Common Uses: Cocoa Butter has a soft, sweet cocoa aroma and is one of the most stable fats known. It has been used to heal and moisturize skin that has been exposed to the elements. It also helps reduce the formation of stretch marks during pregnancy by keeping the skin supple. It makes a wonderful ingredient in lotion bars, lip balms, body butters and soaps. Cocoa Butter is one of the most stable fats known and it contains natural antioxidants that prevent rancidity. This butter is very hard in consistency.
Recommended Usage:
• Lotions & Creams: 5 - 20 %
• Balms: 5 – 100 %
• Bar Soaps: 5 - 20 %
• Hair Conditioners: 1 – 5 %
When adding butters to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture can be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound. As with most raw materials, results may vary, so we strongly recommend small, lab scale batches prior to any commercial manufacturing.
Shelf Life: This butter should be stored in a cool dark place and has a shelf-life of approximately 2 - 5 years when stored properly.

I really like that this butter comes in chunks, it makes it so easy to work with. It doesn't smell like I thought it would, but I think that's because I've never used the natural butter (only the stuff from the store with added fragrances). It does smell exactly like a hunk of nice dark chocolate. It's really nice stuff.

Smells just like chocolat with some great nutty undertones. Love it. It comes in small chunks - makes measuring for CP soap easy. Great product for many applications - but I think I'll order some deodorized for use in CP soaps with lighter EOs as the cocoa smell tends to overpower.

Little did I know that it has a rich, deep dark cocoa scent. I took a piece of the pure butter and rubbed it in my palms to melt it, and it was wonderful! Quite a joy to use, just as it is! I am not crazy about the natural chocolate smell on it own. I find my using a peppermint EO , it works the best, as other EOs or fragrant oils do not blend well with it.

This butter smells fantastic I made lip balms and whipped body butters with this and I'm a newbie at making products for myself. I used cocoa butter as the only butter in the lip balm mixed with orange oil for a chocolate orange flavour, I use it at night and sleep with it on and my lips are so soft in the morning. Don't use the orange in sunlight though just for reference.

I absolutely love the smell of chocolate. Someone I know had very rough bumpy skin on their arms and after 3 applications the bumps were gone! Wonderful product!!

My first batch of product using this cocoa was a flop but then I found the right combination and WOW. It's winning ingredient, when combined properly smells good enough to eat! I LOVE IT!!

Unlike cocoa butter I've purchased from other suppliers, the butter from New Directions is broken into small pieces and flakes so I don't have to melt a large block. Fabulous!

great cocoa butter with a strong cocoa scent that can add a wonderful chocolate aroma to a variety of products. Price point is competitive with most cocoa butters found in North America. Definately my preferred supplier of this product.

Cocoa butter is awesome in body butters, soaps, lip balms and other b&b products. I love using unrefined cocoa butter for that natural chocolatey scent!

The smell of chocolate is great, if you don't plan on scenting your blend with anything else. I found the smell very overpowering, even after leaving it open to the air for weeks. Blends well though, if you're only using a little bit the smell isn't bad. I had to adjust any recipes that included this product to include less of this so that the scents I was using weren't competing with the chocolate smell!

Our Cocoa Butter is completely natural and unrefined. It has a rich, chocolately smell that is a reflection of the quality of the beans being used. In fact, we have many customers who use this natural emollient as a stand alone product.
To address the demand for Cocoa Butter without scent, we are awaiting our first shipment of deodorized Cocoa Butter.
