Description: The cinnamon tree is an evergreen native to China and Vietnam that has since been cultivated in many other regions. It has shiny, leathery green leaves, and small, white flowers with oval shaped purple berries.

Color: Brownish yellow to dark yellow liquid.

Common Uses: Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil is believed to have the following properties: stimulant, antiseptic, antibiotic, astringent, carminative, emmenagogue, and anti-spasmodic. It is also considered to have natural insect repellent properties.

Consistency: Medium

Note: Middle

Strength of Aroma: Medium

Blends well with: Clove Bud, Lavender, Cedarwood, Orange, Lemon, Neroli, Ylang-ylang, Rosemary and Thyme.

Aromatic Scent: Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil has a spicy, warm, clove - like smell. Customers seeking the smell of the cinnamon spice should purchase Cinnamon Bark.

History: Medicinal use of Cinnamon Bark was first recorded in Chinese formulations as early as 2700 B.C. The herb has been used as a healing aid for stomach upset and gas, diarrhea, rheumatism, kidney ailments, and abdominal pain. The Egyptians used it as a foot massage, as well as a remedy for excessive bile. It was used as an ingredient of mulled wines, love potions and a sedative during birth.

Cautions: Though non-toxic, it is capable of causing sensitivity - particularly with mucous membranes. It should also be used in proper dilution and avoided during pregnancy.

I love this scent, I like it better than its sweeter friend Cinnamon bark (which is more like a candy heart scent). I will use it when I want a more serious and complex spicy cinnamon, very good.

I am not happy with the scent of this oil. It has an underlying decaying plant material scent. I had purchased cinnamon leaf oil from a different company and felt secure that the one you offered would be the same. It smelled just like cinnamon. I see your note as to purchase cinnamon bark if that is the scent I am looking for, so I will try that instead.

Just to reiterate other comments: This is definitely NOT your kitchen cinnamon fragrance. I used it in my cold process soap, as a single fragrance. The result is very different from my batch using cinnamon bark essential oil. Personally, I don't care for it. It is a very strong aroma, so experiment a bit with amount used.

I am sorry to say I do not like this scent, I find it has too much of a medical smell(with just a hint of cinnamon) But again that is my personal taste.

New Directions Aromatics Response:

Please note that Cinnamon Leaf will NOT have the traditional scent that everyone associates with Cinnamon, if you are seeking that type of scent please try our Cinnamon Bark instead.

I love this oil for a variety of reasons, one being it is safer than the cinnamon bark oil and its use in sensual blends...really adds a spicy warm feel. It can also be used for anorexia, anti fungal, stimulating childbirth contractions, chills, colds, debility, fear, frigidity, gum care, induces menstruation, infection, isolation, lice, loneliness, poor circulation, rheumatism, scanty periods, stress, warts, wasp stings. Also known as Ceylon Cinnamon, Cinnamomum verum, Laurus cinnamomum, Madagascar Cinnamon, Seychelles Cinnamon, True Cinnamon. this one is highly recommeded for quality and price.
