Description: This variety of Chamomile is a particularly fragrant, though, rare aromatic shrub indigenous to the mountain areas of South Africa. It is a white flowering small shrub with fleshy gland dotted leaves which grows up to a meter in height and is locally known as "Cape Chamomile".

Color: Pale transparent blue to dark blue liquid

Common Uses: Chamomile has a long tradition in herbal medicine. The flowers were used in many cures including an herbal tea to cure insomnia, relieve stress and depression. Therapeutic properties include: analgesic, anti-allergic, anti-convulsive, antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, cholagogic, diuretic, emmenagogue, febrifuge, hepatic, nervine, sedative, splenetic, stomachic, sudorific, tonic, vermifuge, vasoconstricor.

Strength of Aroma: Strong

Blends well with: Bergamot, Clary Sage, Lavender, Geranium, Jasmine, Neroli, Patchouli, Tea Tree, Rose, Lemon and Ylang-ylang.

Aromatic Scent: Chamomile South African Oil has a fruity odor.

History: The word Chamomile comes from the Greek word Chamomaela or 'Ground Apple' and has been in use for centuries. It was first thought to be used by the Egyptians to cure 'Auge' or Acute Fever. In the Middle Ages it was used as a 'strewing' herb to improve the atmosphere at gatherings and festivals, and to the Anglo Saxons it was one of the 'Nine Sacred Herbs'.

Cautions: Non-toxic, nonirritant, causes dermatitis in some individuals. Do not use the essential oil during pregnancy because it is a uterine stimulant.

My Daughter and I made a cream with this chamomile and it is soooo ..aaahhhh.... I just want to smother myself in it.We absolutely love the smell. She prefers the smell of the African over the Roman. Can't wait until its back in stock.

I bought just a small bottle of this because of the price, but am very pleased with it. A very little goes a long way. I use this in creams and lotions in combination with Lavender for a very gentle healing and soothing product. The Chamomile , even with just a drop, holds it's own against the Lavender, adding a depth and complexity of fragrance to the overall product.

Cape Chamomile is not a true Chamomile; however, the aroma is delightful. It ‘s worth the money of a sample, you will fall in love with this specimen. Now, do not expect a chamomile oil at all. It does not contain significant amounts of azulene or chamazulene, which means that this is not an ess. oil for skin problem. It contains high % of esters, which means that it could help with stress, anxiety, insomnia and even depression. Use it in a diffuser, as your personal perfume or in the bathtub. For insomnia, put some on the pillowcase or on a piece of cotton placed swhere you can inhale the aroma when you need some sleep .

This transparent blue oil is fantastic. The smell is strong. It is not necessary to use a lot. The price is pretty light for such a product. I will mostly use it into creams because ot its calming and anti irritating properties. L'huile est d'un bleu foncé transparent. L'odeur est très forte et balsamique. Je vais surtout l'utiliser (avec parcimonie) dans mes crèmes à cause de ses vertus calmantes et contre l'irritation. Super produit.

I add a few drops to my bath with a splash of rose water. It makes my skin super soft and smells wonderful! I have really fair sensitive skin and have found that this chamomile oil works wonders to keep skin soft and even.
