Botanical Name: Carapa guianensis

Extraction Method: Cold Pressed

Description: Native to the Amazon region in Brazil, Andiroba Oil has long been used by the native Indians to heal cuts and wounds. This nut from this plant resembles a chestnut and has a very oil rich kernel in the center.

Color: Pale yellow to golden yellow viscous oily liquid.

Aromatic Description: Strong musky smell similar to clarified butter.

Common Uses: Renowned for its anti-inflammatory properties, Andiroba Carrier Oil can be used to promote circulation of blood in the skin and helps to relieve pain and swelling during an injury. It contains the component limonoid which is said to have antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial and insecticidal properties. Topical rubs can treat and relieve the physical symptoms associated with arthritis, rheumatism, burns, cuts and wounds. Andiroba Oil can be used in preparations to treat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and for insect bites. It has wonderful moisturizing and rejuvenating properties and is highly recommended for use in cosmetics and skin care products. It can be used in products such as massage oils and lotions, hand/facial creams, hair and scalp products, foundations and various balms.

Consistency: Thick, viscous liquid. Product can be placed in a hot water bath for a few minutes to allow for easy pouring.

Absorption: Absorbs easily into the skin.

Shelf Life: Users can expect a shelf life of 1 year with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended.

My husband loves the muscle treatment blend that I make with this CO. It really does work. Very good for inflammation issues. By the way, this is going to be a staple in my medicine cabinet for bruises too. It speeds up bruise healing time in record time! Unbelievable!

I'm not too sure about this oil. It has a strange, almost sweet/tangy scent that is definitely noticeable when used in high concentrations and not entirely enjoyable. I've used this oil for massages on super tight and sore muscles, and have noticed some improvement, but that could just be due to the massage. The oil certainly heats as it is massaged into the skin. On a bruise I noticed improvement in healing time and pain reduction. In lotions at low concentrations I've noticed nothing.

Wonderful product! It's great on 2nd degree burns. It healed my burn blister in record time. It dried up the blister that day! It's also great for speeding up healing time for a bruise. Just be careful to keep it away from the eyes (it stings and needs to be flushed out with water for 15 minutes per MSDS sheet instructions). Also, it has a bitter taste so avoid the mouth area.

Just received this today. I rubbed it into an injury I sustained on my left leg about 4 months ago. Have been partially paralyzed since and extremely frustrated. Have noticed that my leg has really warmed up since applying. It's usually very cold and hard as a stone where the muscles are numb. The circulation has also increased. I can actually see this because the veins running under my skin are quite pronounced. As in I can see them quite clearly. Will continue to use for the next few weeks and see what the results are. So far though, this stuff seems to start working very very quickly. Will try it on my very dry skin tomorrow.
